What it means to be the cardiac responsible at IMA:

IMA is the closest we come to a heart department in Greenland.

At IMA, we are responsible for the treatment and assessment of all types of cardiac patients, or we ensure that the patient is well sent off for specialized treatment at the national hospital.

Many colleagues who come to work at IMA have not previously encountered cardiology, which is why it is important that we prepare our colleagues well so they can manage to read and identify heart rhythms, which we assess in each shift. In addition, you will teach people about cardiac patients, as well as the care and observation of these.

Cardiology at IMA is particularly exciting, as the geographical distance to hospitals changes workflows and treatment needs and possibilities. We prepare patients and relatives for the transition to treatment at the National Hospital or support the patient in how to manage their illness when they return home to their village.

You have the opportunity to improve and practice your skills in disseminating your knowledge and help ensure that everyone is well prepared to care for cardiac patients.

In addition to being responsible for cardiology, you will also be part of the staff group and in the care on equal terms with your colleagues, in three-shift work with 12-hour weekend shifts. However, you will have more day shifts than average due to administrative days to prepare teaching and update instructions regarding our cardiac workflows.

IMA is also a unit for other patients needing close monitoring and complex care.
It is a department where we work with medical issues including neurology, sepsis, organ failure, lung disease, etc., as well as surgical patients in orthopedic surgery, parenchymal surgery, or gynecology/obstetrics.

As a nurse in our department, you will receive:

• A role where your nursing experience is highly valued
• A strong team that works with telemetry monitoring, High Flow oxygen, a-gas, CPAP, and other instrumental nursing
• Training in venefecium, Greenlandic culture, and language pronunciation (g otherwise ad. Hoc. Teaching every Thursday. You will also receive cardiac training to know exactly how we do it in Greenland, if you are not from here, so you know what your colleagues have been taught before you.
• Thorough introduction to the department. As a permanent employee, you will receive 14 days of training, outside of the norm
• Close collaboration with skilled colleagues, including a buddy system
• Responsibility for a maximum of 2-3 patients at a time
• A social department with a good atmosphere and high spirits
• Work weekends every 3rd weekend in 12-hour shifts

Salary and Employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. A residence and work permit can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
