About the project – Together We Move

Together We Move – »Let’s Move Together« – is an ambitious national project that brings together the Greenland Sports Federation (GIF) and UNICEF Kalaallit Nunaat around a common vision: that all children and young people in Kalaallit Nunaat should have access to a safe, inclusive, and developmental sports environment.

The project runs until the end of 2030 and is anchored in GIF's vision that Greenland should be the world's most physically active country by 2030 – combined with UNICEF's global and local work for children's rights.

The core of the project is a systematic national effort aimed at sports coaches, volunteers, and leaders. Through competency development, educational programs, and concrete tools, we strengthen the ability of sports environments to work with children's rights in practice – including child involvement, handling of child certificates, inclusion, and prevention of inappropriate behavior.

The project introduces a structured parental collaboration that aims to strengthen the positive and inclusive community centered around sports. The project is national in its scope and includes travel activities to some cities and smaller settlements in Greenland.

The Position

We are looking for an experienced and proactive project manager who can take ownership of a complex, interdisciplinary, and national project with many stakeholders. You will report to the program manager of UNICEF Kalaallit Nunaat and work closely with GIF's secretariat, Paarisa, and the Center for Public Health in Greenland (CFG). You will be a central driving force – not just a coordinator – and are expected to set direction, proactively solve problems, and ensure that the project delivers concrete results on time and within budget.

The position is temporary for 4 years, with the possibility of extension for 3-6 months during the anchoring process and is located at UNICEF's office in Nuuk. Frequent travel within Greenland is to be expected.

Responsibilities and Key Tasks

You have full project management responsibility and your primary tasks are:

● Project management and control: Plan, lead, and manage the project from A to Z – including project plan, milestones, risk management, and ongoing follow-up on progress.

● Cross-organizational coordination: Ensure effective collaboration and clear communication across UNICEF, GIF, Paarisa, CFG, sports associations, municipalities, and other stakeholders nationally and internationally.

● Finance and reporting: Have full budget responsibility, including preparation of budgets, ongoing budget follow-up, and reporting to the foundation and partners.

● Development and implementation: Lead the development of national learning and teaching materials on children's rights and inclusion in sports, and manage implementation across the country.

● Teaching and capacity building: Plan and conduct educational programs and workshops for coaches, volunteers, and sports leaders throughout Greenland.

● Parental collaboration: Develop and implement new models for parental involvement in sports environments.

● Communication and visibility: Communicate and convey the project externally – including press work, social media, and presentations for partners and politicians.

● Proactive problem-solving: Identify challenges early and act independently to find solutions before they become blockages.

Professional Qualifications – Requirements

You have solid, documented experience with complex project management and possess:

● Several years of experience as a project manager on larger, complex projects – preferably with interdisciplinary and/or national dimensions.

● Experience with budget management, including reporting to public entities and/or foundations.

● Formal project management training is an advantage.

● Strong competencies in stakeholder management and cross-organizational collaboration.

● Experience in developing and implementing educational or capacity-building programs.

● Knowledge of children's rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and/or the organization of sports is an advantage.

Personal Competencies

We are looking for a person who:

● Is proactive and resourceful – you do not wait for tasks to come to you, you seek them out yourself.

● Has a positive and constructive attitude and is a team player.

● Is strategic and holistic but can translate ambitions into concrete actions and results.

● Is a strong communicator who can adapt messages to very different target groups – from volunteer coaches in a village to international partners.

● Thrives on complexity and juggling many tasks, and is strong at prioritizing.

● Is resilient, persistent, and delivers results – even when facing resistance or structural challenges.

● Ideally multilingual, Greenlandic and Danish. It is an advantage to master Greenlandic.

● Knows the Greenlandic culture and context, and has respect for and curiosity about the local communities you work in.

Workplace: UNICEF Kalaallit Nunaat office, Nuuk

Employment Type: Temporary position, 4 years, with the possibility of extension for 3-6 months during the anchoring process. No housing can be provided.

Salary and Conditions: To be determined individually based on qualifications and experience.
