Are you passionate about creating better conditions for children and families? Do you have ambitions to make a difference in a geographically unique municipality and a developing community? Qeqqata Municipality is looking for an engaged and strategically strong souschef for a newly established key position within the municipality's Children and Family Area.
As a souschef, you will be a central actor in the development of the welfare area in Qeqqata Municipality, particularly within the Children and Family Area, where you will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions and strengthen collaboration across towns and settlements. Your closest partner will be the head of the Children and Family Area, who is also responsible for the 18 employees in the Children and Family Area in the municipality's administration as well as the municipality's family centers, municipal residential institutions for children and youth, foster families, and childcare centers. In close collaboration with the head, you will ensure professionalism, financial oversight, and harmonization of workflows for the Children and Family Area – all with a focus on creating a positive and lasting difference for the citizens in the municipality.
Souschef's responsibilities and key tasks
Main areas of responsibility for the position, in close collaboration with the head, include:
1. Strategic leadership
- Implementation and development of the overall strategy for the Children and Family Area.
- Ensuring professionalism among employees and harmonization of workflows across the municipality's two towns and six settlements.
2. Financial management and supervision
- Financial management and ensuring budget compliance in the Children and Family Area.
- Supervision of operations, personnel, and decentralized units such as family centers, childcare centers, foster families, and the municipal residential institution.
3. Political and administrative collaboration
- Preparation of case presentations for the Welfare Committee and Municipal Council, as well as participating in quality assurance of these.
- Ensuring and engaging in collaboration across the municipality's departments and levels.
4. Personnel management
- Co-responsible for 64 employees, of which 18 are in the municipality's administration and 46 in decentralized units. The head has the ultimate responsibility for this.
- Strengthening employees' professionalism through dialogue, clear leadership, and freedom under responsibility.
- Obligation to convene leadership and staff meetings
- Act as head during their vacation or other lawful absence exceeding 15 days.
5. Professional responsibility
- Work towards coherent and targeted initiatives across towns and settlements.
- Ensure compliance with legislation in the Children and Family Area.
- Ensure implementation of politically adopted goals.
- Quality assure case presentations for the Welfare Committee.
6. Development and reorganization
- Contribute to and implement the reorganization of the Welfare Area.
- Ongoing development of the Children and Family Area to ensure better conditions for children and families.
7. Internal and external collaboration:
- Collaboration with other departments in the welfare area; Elderly and Disability Area, Chief of Staff's area, and with other internal areas in Qeqqata Municipality as well as with external partners.
Requirements and qualifications
- Academic education or equivalent in the social field, e.g., social worker.
- Documented experience with leadership in the public sector, including financial management and project management.
- Knowledge of legislation in the social field including the Children and Family Area.
- Ability to work strategically, purposefully, and with a holistic perspective.
- Good communication skills in both Danish and Greenlandic as well as understanding of Greenlandic societal conditions and culture is an advantage.

- Ability to create and maintain a good working environment with room for learning.

Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions will be agreed upon in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between Naalakkersuisut and your negotiating organization. Housing will be provided according to applicable rules, and free relocation and departure travel as well as moving expenses will be provided after at least 3 years of employment.
A staff housing may be assigned, for which payment is made according to applicable rules.
Criminal record:
This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a child certificate and a criminal record.
According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
