AC Full-Mandatory or Economic Consultant

The Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church is looking for a new colleague for the finance department. The position involves processing course funds, budget and financial management, as well as developing work processes. We seek a structured and collaborative person with an understanding of finance and experience from similar positions.

Commencement on March 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

The Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church is looking for a new colleague for the finance department – a new colleague who can ensure good and structured processing of course funds for the business sector, while also further developing and continuously strengthening budget and financial management across the entire education, culture, sports, and church sector.

The development of the education sector is a high priority to create the best educational opportunities for everyone and ensure a qualified workforce for the business community. Funding for culture is considered essential to ensure the ongoing development of society's assets. Grants for sports are sought to be allocated to athletes, as sports are seen as a way to combat lifestyle diseases, among other things. Additionally, the church is an integral part of the structure of society.

In the Department, we have a collaborative culture that allows everyone to contribute new ideas to the organization and the solutions to tasks. If you are structured, team-oriented, and have a basic understanding of economics, you might be our new colleague in the finance department.

Your personal qualifications:

We are looking for a colleague who is professionally engaged and has the ability and desire to participate in collaborative teams that prioritize development. We seek someone who takes pride in delivering solid professional craftsmanship and approaches tasks in a structured manner. Tasks that range widely from administration and operations to development and political servicing.

We would like to see that:

  • You have a relevant academic or vocational education, preferably in business economics or social sciences.
  • You have experience from a similar position or from a position within the financial sector.
  • You have an understanding of bookkeeping, finance, and statistical work.
  • You have a good knowledge of Greenlandic society and the public system in Greenland.
  • You have good language skills, preferably Greenlandic and English.
  • You have the ability to maintain an overview in a complex process under a time-pressured situation.
  • Processing of course funds for the business sector.
  • Coordination and dialogue with educational institutions regarding the course materials.
  • Preparation of consultation responses.
  • Controlling and financial analysis.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of work processes in the finance department.
  • Provide consultancy assistance to a number of institutions based on the department's internal institutional authority.
  • Individually or together with others in the team, conduct institutional visits with the aim of assisting and advising the institutional management in acute situations.
  • Contribute to holding a office manager meeting.
  • Academic case processing of political decision proposals.
  • Preparation of departmental instructions and guidelines for underlying operational units.
  • Ad-hoc economic, statistical, and accounting tasks.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
