Interpreter

The Self-Government's Interpreting Office is seeking 1 interpreter.

The start date is April 1, 2026, or by agreement.

About the position

The Interpretation Office handles all interpreting and translation tasks, including simultaneous interpreting in the Self-Government's central administration. The translations are usually from Danish to Greenlandic and vice versa, such as draft bills, government proposals, larger reports, materials for Inatsisartut meetings, as well as incoming and outgoing correspondence from the departments/agencies.

In addition, internal quality control is carried out on all tasks.

Depending on the individual's competencies, translations from English to Greenlandic may also occur, as well as simultaneous interpretation to and from Greenlandic at meetings, conferences, etc.

The Interpretation Office has introduced a digital translation system, which leads to a new organization of the interpreters' work. A technical and quality assurance team has been established, as well as a translation/simultaneous interpretation team, and the position is posted for the latter team.

Is trained as an interpreter, has good collaboration skills even in pressured situations.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
