We are looking for a colleague for the operation and development of statistics about Greenlandic society. The work involves processing, analyzing, and presenting data through programming in SAS, R, SQL, and using Excel. You will be responsible for one or more statistical areas and work closely with a small team.
About the position
We are looking for a colleague for the operation and development of statistics on Greenlandic society.
Most of Greenland's Statistics production is based on administrative registers from public authorities. A large part of the workday therefore consists of processing, analyzing, and presenting data through programming in SAS, R, SQL, as well as using Excel. You will be responsible for one or more statistical areas depending on your qualifications and interests.
The production operates according to a release schedule that determines when the website should be updated with current information. These operational tasks take up most of the day-to-day work, but there are also tasks involving special analyses for clients or servicing researchers. We have common workflows that ensure the quality of our publications, and especially in the first year of employment, a significant effort is required to learn the necessary workflows.
Qualifications
We are looking for an employee with a higher education degree, where competencies in data processing are a requirement and must be documented from either studies or previous employment.
We are therefore looking for a professional profile such as:
-
Has experience with or knowledge of programming in SAS, R, SQL, or using Excel.
-
Has relevant work experience
-
Has a good knowledge of Greenlandic society
-
Speaks and writes Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
The employees of Greenland Statistics share the operation of www.stat.gl, which is the central website for statistics about Greenland. The website serves as the gateway to Greenland Statistics for both citizens and professionals such as journalists, politicians, students, civil servants, and researchers. More than 450 statistical database tables have been published here, along with over 100 related publications in 2025.
We are a small team with only 15 employees, where everyone contributes to both routine tasks and development tasks. You will be part of an office where community and collaboration among employees are valued and prioritized.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For applicants with a master's degree and several years of relevant work experience, there is the possibility of employment as a special consultant.
The working hours are 40 hours a week.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
