AC-Consultant or Economic Advisor for the Finance Department

The Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church is seeking a new colleague for the finance department. The position involves processing course funds, budget and financial management, as well as developing work processes. We are looking for a structured and collaborative person with an understanding of finance and experience from similar positions.

The Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church is seeking a new colleague for the finance department – a new colleague who can ensure good and structured case handling of course funds for the business sector, while also further developing and continuously strengthening budget and financial management across the entire education, culture, sports, and church area.

The development of the education sector is a high priority, so that the best educational opportunities can be created for everyone and qualified labor can be ensured for the business community. Funding for culture is considered essential to ensure the ongoing development of society's assets. Grants for sports are sought to be allocated to athletes, as sports are seen as a way to combat lifestyle diseases, among other things. Additionally, the church is an integral part of the structure of society.

In the finance department, we have a collaborative culture that allows everyone to contribute innovative ideas to the organization and solutions to tasks. If you are structured, team-oriented, and have a basic understanding of finance, you might be our new colleague in the finance department.

Your personal qualifications:

We are looking for a colleague who is professionally engaged and has the ability and desire to participate in collaborative teams that prioritize development. We are looking for someone who takes pride in delivering solid professional craftsmanship and approaches their tasks in a structured manner. Tasks that range widely from administration and operations to development and political servicing.

We would like to see that:

  • You have a relevant academic or vocational education, preferably in business economics or social sciences.
  • You have experience from a similar position or from a position within the financial sector.
  • You have an understanding of bookkeeping, finance, and statistical work.
  • You have a good knowledge of Greenlandic society and the public system in Greenland.
  • You have good language skills, preferably Greenlandic and English.
  • You have the ability to maintain an overview in a complex process under a time-pressured situation.
  • Processing of course funds for the business sector.
  • Coordination and dialogue with educational institutions regarding the course materials.
  • Daily bookkeeping in IRIS
  • Controlling and financial analysis.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of work processes in the finance department.
  • Provide consultancy assistance to a number of institutions based on the department's internal instructional authority.
  • Individually or together with others in the team, conduct institutional visits with the aim of assisting and advising the institution's management in acute situations.
  • Academic case processing of political decision proposals.
  • Academic case processing of § 37 questions from the Inatsisartut.
  • Preparation of departmental instructions and guidelines for subordinate operational units.
  • Ad-hoc economic, statistical, and accounting tasks.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
