Project Manager for the Family Center in Avannaata Municipality

Avannaata Municipality and the Self-Government are seeking a dedicated project manager for the family center. The position is limited until December 31, 2027, and is part of the partnership agreement 'Better Prevention - Fewer Placements'. You will ensure progress, coordination, and documentation across initiatives and work strategically in an area of great importance for citizens' well-being.

Avannaata Municipality and the Self-Government are jointly strengthening efforts in the areas of children, youth, and families and are seeking an engaged project manager who can ensure progress, coordination, and documentation across our many initiatives.

The position is temporary until December 31, 2027, and has been established as part of the partnership agreement between Avannaata Municipality and the Self-Government, under the heading "Better Prevention - Fewer Placements." There is therefore a unique opportunity to work strategically and developmentally in an area of great importance for the well-being of citizens.

As a project manager in the family center, you will be a central link between management and professional staff in Avannaata municipality, the Self-Government, and other partners. You will play a key role in creating structure, ensuring implementation, and supporting continuity in an area characterized by development and change.

Your tasks

The position is anchored in the Family Center in Ilulissat, and the project manager reports to the head of the family center.

Project management

  • Coordinate development projects and ensure the implementation of decisions.
  • Prepare plans and proposals, including project plans, status reports, evaluations, and decision-making basis.
  • Follow up on agreements, milestones, and progress, as well as collect data and experiences.
  • Coordinate meetings and workshops as well as prepare agendas and minutes.
  • Support management with planning, structure, and follow-up, including contributing to applications and new development projects.
  • Support the collaboration between family centers, family houses, children's houses, and youth initiatives.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary development initiatives and ensure clarity about roles and expectations.
  • Contribute to a strengthened collaboration between Avannaata Municipality and the Government of Greenland.
  • Support development and implementation in areas such as family council meetings, Early Intervention, family treatment, homecoming processes, foster care, etc.
  • Relevant academic education at the bachelor's or master's level – but curiosity and the right experience can also take you far.
  • Experience with project management, administration, or development work
  • Insight into the child and youth sector, for example within family treatment, the placement area, or the foster care area.

You work in a structured manner, thrive on creating an overview, and are strong in written communication and documentation. Additionally, you can collaborate broadly both internally and externally, and you are independent, proactive, and good at following up. It is an advantage if you are bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish, but it is not a requirement.

Project period

The position is desired to be filled as soon as possible and runs until December 31, 2027, after which the employment will cease. At the end of the project, an evaluation will be prepared with recommendations for possible permanent anchoring of the function in the municipality. Since the position has been created under the partnership agreement between Naalakkersuisut and Avannaata Kommunia, the actual employment will take place through Naalakkersuisut, while the daily management is placed with the department head in the Family Center.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can occur in accordance with the applicable agreement.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
