Secretary General

We are seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Secretary General at the Bureau for Inatsisartut. You should have a master's degree in social sciences, law, political science, or similar. The role involves responsibility for finance, IT, and secretarial support for the Chairman of Inatsisartut. Strong leadership and collaboration skills are essential.

We are seeking a highly qualified employee who possesses a good mix of professionalism and administrative experience for the position of Secretariat Manager at the Bureau for Inatsisartut. We expect that you have at least a master's degree in social sciences, law, political science, or similar.

The secretary general is the head of the Chair's Secretariat, which, in addition to the secretary general, consists of 1 administrative officer, 1 office officer, 1 webmaster, 1 communications officer, and the secretary of the Speaker of the Parliament. The secretary general is also the head of the Finance Department, which consists of 1 accounting controller and 2 office officers, and the head of the IT department, with 1 IT consultant.

Your primary tasks will be:

Together with the director, have responsibility for the secretariat services of the Chairman of the Inatsisartut and the Presidium.

Responsibility for following up on the Chairman's and the Executive Board's decisions, in close collaboration with the director.

Responsibility for the remuneration conditions of the Inatsisartut and party subsidies

Responsibility for finance and IT

Participation in and contribution to various ongoing projects in the Inatsisartut, including organizing seminars and similar activities.

In addition, you should help develop and strengthen the framework for political service and contribute to a good working environment.

The head of the secretariat reports to the director and is part of the agency's management team on equal terms with the other leaders.

It is important that you, as the head of the secretariat, are aware that the bureau's advice and assistance to the members and parties of the Inatsisartut must always be politically neutral, and that all members should receive the same good and professional service.

We also expect you to have a thorough understanding of rules, procedures, and parliamentary processes.

We expect you to possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in Greenlandic, Danish, and English, and that you are a good communicator of knowledge.

We expect you to have good leadership and collaboration skills. At the same time, we expect you to be able to maintain an overview in a hectic everyday life with many parallel tasks and significant professional challenges. We also emphasize that you are motivated and able to maintain enthusiasm and a positive attitude when the pressure is highest.

You must be prepared to make a significant and independent work effort, where some overtime can be expected. This is especially true during sessions in the Inatsisartut. You should expect a certain amount of travel both within and outside Greenland.

Particular emphasis will be placed on knowledge of and experience with personnel management, as well as good collaboration skills, when assessing applicants.

Salary and employment conditions are determined through negotiation and qualifications, based on salary scale 39.

If you do not reside in Nuuk, the Bureau for Inatsisartut covers expenses for moving household goods according to applicable regulations. Housing can be provided, for which rent is paid according to applicable regulations.
