We are looking for an experienced communications advisor for the Department of Nature and Environment. You will advise at a high strategic level and produce communication products. The position requires navigation in political environments and translating strategic decisions into concrete communication. Flexibility and experience with crisis communication are necessary.
Communications Advisor to the Management Secretariat in the Ministry of Environment and Nature Start date: Commencement from May 1, 2026, or as soon as possible by agreement.
We are looking for an experienced and independent communication advisor who can advise authorities at a high strategic level and simultaneously produce strong, precise, and authority-related communication products.
You will need to help strengthen the communication efforts in the areas of emergency preparedness, public safety, nature, environment, and climate.
The position requires you to navigate safely in a political and administrative environment and to advise and assist high-level authorities. It is expected that you translate strategic decisions into concrete communication. You should be able to go from decision-making to writing the press release yourself, planning town hall meetings, workshops, and producing video material.
Your primary tasks will be:

Strategic advice: Be involved in creating a cohesive communication for the Government of Greenland in crisis situations.

Advising the head of department in PAN and providing support on the communication of the Minister.

Contributions to positioning, timing, and risk assessment in current cases in the areas of responsibility.

You will need to have a close collaboration with the upcoming crisis communication advisor, who will also have their daily work in the department. Together, you will ensure: Ensuring message consistency and timely communication.

Structuring the collaboration with external advisors, if relevant.

Maintenance and development of the press collaboration.

Operational production and execution: Production of video with the Minister as the sender.

Preparation of press releases, talking points, Q&As, opinion pieces, and background notes.

Planning and execution of citizen meetings.

Development of campaign materials and citizen-oriented communication.
There will be a need for your flexibility regarding overtime and changing working hours.
About you
We expect you to have a relevant higher education at the master's level, alternatively as a journalist, and can document results and experiences that meet the high demands of the position.
You have several years of documented experience from a public authority, a ministry, an agency, or a larger organization with political complexity.

In addition, we expect you to have documented experience in strategic communication consulting at the management level,

can advise political and administrative leadership with sound judgment,

has an in-depth understanding of crisis communication and the role of authorities,

knows the logics of the media and works confidently in the press landscape,

can switch between consulting and production,

has experience with cross-functional coordination in complex organizations,
-
works in a structured manner and maintains an overview under pressure,

writes clearly and precisely in Danish, takes ownership of the deliveries, and ensures that decisions are translated into finished and usable products and
-
is collaborative, professional, and contributes constructively – even when the pace is high.
And it is an advantage if you have experience with case management systems in the public sector (e.g., F2) as well as knowledge of crisis management systems and inter-agency cooperation.
Knowledge of the Greenlandic language, culture, and the Greenlandic society is an advantage but not a requirement.
It is an advantage if you have knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions and are proficient in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.

In the department, we have about 35 employees, of which the Management Secretariat will consist of 3 employees.

Salary and employment conditions

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to allocated staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
