Financial Employee / Assistant

Ilisimatusarfik is seeking an experienced financial employee / assistant for the accounting department. You will have varied tasks and be part of a team of three employees. Responsibilities include guidance, control, and follow-up on finances as well as bookkeeping. We are looking for a service-oriented person with experience in finance and accounting.

We wish to strengthen our finance and accounting function and are therefore looking for an experienced finance employee / senior assistant for our accounting department.

The position will provide you with very varied tasks, where you will be challenged both professionally and personally. In the accounting department, we are three dedicated employees (Accounting Manager and 2 controllers), who are looking for a good and focused colleague who is committed to providing excellent service to our users.

We hope that you are also good at collaborating with your colleagues in solving tasks, so that we as a team continue to develop the accounting department in a positive direction.

Your tasks will primarily consist of:

Guided the accounting department's partners at Ilisimatusarfik.

Control and follow-up of the daily finances at Ilisimatusarfik, including:

  • Manage the registration and bookkeeping of all types of accounting documents.
  • Perform reconciliation tasks including bank reconciliation.
  • Control of business processes and ongoing development and maintenance of administrative processes and procedures.
  • Ad hoc tasks related to accounting and the finance function

In connection with your appointment, there may be changes to the current distribution of tasks, so that both your and the other employees' competencies are utilized in the best possible way.

Desired qualifications:

  • a degree in economics and accounting.
  • experience with accounting and financial management.
  • a systematic approach to problem-solving, a good overview, a sense of order, and is responsible.
  • good collaboration and communication skills – among colleagues as well as towards partners.
  • knowledge of the public sector's economic systems and other administrative IT systems.
  • can work with Excel at a high level.
  • good communication skills both written and oral.
  • has experience with project management systems.
  • a service-oriented approach to your work.
  • ability to work flexibly in a changing everyday life.
  • interest in continuing to develop your skills and knowledge.
  • a high work capacity.

About Ilisimatusarfik

Ilisimatusarfik, the University of Greenland, was established in 1987 and currently offers 13 different programs, including options for part-time studies at both diploma and master's levels. Ilisimatusarfik is an Arctic university that creates knowledge and innovation in a rapidly developing region. The board is the university's highest management body. Daily management is handled by the rector and the university director. The four institutes are led by an institute head, who is advised by an institute council.

Ilisimatusarfik consists of 4 institutes:

  • Institute for Learning
  • Institute of Society, Economics & Journalism
  • Institute of Culture, Language & History
  • Institute of Health & Nature

The Joint Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Joint Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik. The departments work closely with the academic units, but also collaborate with each other. The tasks of the Joint Administration include: student administration, personnel administration, servicing the board and the Academic Council, as well as other service functions for the university's employees and students. The Joint Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
