Versatile marine biologist sought for the environmental department at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources. The Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, which advises the Government of Greenland, municipalities, and other entities on issues related to living resources, is looking for an employee for the Department of Environment and Raw Materials to start on September 1 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Work tasks
As an employee in the Department for Environment and Raw Materials, you will be involved in tasks related to the environmental effects of raw material activities and monitoring the effects of climate change.
Your focus will be on the environment and nature in fjord areas and coastal zones, e.g. the benthic environment, seabirds, marine mammals, fish, etc.

It is expected that you participate in: Screening and evaluation of the environmental aspects in applications from the raw materials industry.

Advising the Government of Greenland on environmental matters related to other activities.

Collaboration with our partners in environmental consulting.

Fieldwork in connection with the department's tasks.

Projects related to the department's work.
The department's employees participate in several different international working groups, and you will collaborate with researchers from Greenland, Denmark, and other countries.
Qualification requirements
We are looking for an employee with a higher academic education in a scientific field, such as a biologist, environmental engineer, or similar, preferably with experience related to environmental consulting. The applicant should have knowledge of one or more of the department's areas of work.
Knowledge of the Greenlandic language and society is an advantage, but not a requirement.
The place of service is Nuuk. Some travel activity should be expected in connection with fieldwork and meetings.
The working hours are 40 hours per week.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can occur in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
