Program Manager for Digitization, Data, and AI in Taxation

The Government of Greenland is seeking a program manager for digitization, data, and AI in taxation. You will lead the digital transformation of the tax area, ensure efficiency and transparency in tax administration, and drive the modernization of the IT and data landscape. The position requires project management, IT understanding, and the ability to create overview and progress.

Program manager for digitization, data, and AI in the tax area at the Tax Administration, Greenland. Do you want to lead the digital transformation of Greenland's tax sector?

Tax collection, control, and a correct data foundation are some of the most important pillars of the Greenlandic economy. In the Tax Administration Agency, we face a rare opportunity: to modernize a society-critical IT and data landscape, create better digital frameworks for employees – and use data and AI responsibly to increase efficiency, quality, and transparency in tax administration.

In this role, you will have real influence on how the tax area functions in practice – today and in the future.

The role

As the Program Manager for digitization, data, and AI, you will play a central role in creating an overview, direction, and progress in the Danish Tax Agency's digital development in the tax area. You will work closely with management and the various fields, translating complexity into clear priorities, decision proposals, and a clear plan for the next steps.

The role requires you to navigate within an organization where much happens across departments and in informal dialogue: You engage with both management and employees on equal terms, gather perspectives, and ensure that decisions are made that can be executed. You drive the cadence of initiatives, highlight risks and dependencies, and maintain close contact with suppliers so that collaboration, deliveries, and expectations align.

  • An important part of the role is to create an overview for others. You are expected to be able to oversee the Danish Tax Agency's portfolio of IT projects in terms of progress in individual projects, supplier dialogue, and input for financial management. Your primary tasks will be to: Create an overview of the system and data landscape in the tax area.
  • Drive and maintain a roadmap for the modernization of IT, data, and AI.
  • Ensure cross-cutting prioritization, management, and progress across disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Lead projects and manage suppliers in collaboration with consultants and external partners.
  • Prepare clear decision proposals and ensure high quality in documentation and written communication.
  • Set the framework for responsible and targeted AI use.
  • Contribute to a more coherent, secure, and future-proof digital setup for the tax area.

In the role, we will particularly emphasize the following competencies.

  • Project management and control You can create momentum in an informal organization through trust, oversight, and simple management. You can create and maintain an overview of our IT project portfolio.
  • You can drive cross-cutting coordination across processes, dependencies, and stakeholders, making it easy for others to execute.
  • You deliver high quality in documentation and written communication in collaboration with internal and external parties.
  • You lead change from decision to behavior: Creating a common understanding, supporting new workflows, and ensuring implementation and continuous improvements.
  • Digitalization, data, and AI You have a solid foundational understanding of software development and IT architecture (so you can ask the right questions and assess the consequences).
  • You understand data as the foundation for operations, control, development, and decision support.
  • You have insight into how AI affects workflows, system development, and operations – and can frame a responsible and targeted application (governance, transparency, risks) without needing to be a specialist in everything.
  • You can facilitate dialogue and workshops with professional areas and suppliers – and translate input into requirements, priorities, and decision proposals that drive the roadmap and deliveries.
  • Tax and business understanding You have a basic insight into the tax and duties area or similar authority tasks.
  • You understand the relationship between legislation, processes, data, and IT systems.
  • You can ask the right questions and understand the answers – without providing ready-made solutions yourself.
  • Linguistic and societal understanding It is an absolute advantage if you can speak Greenlandic and if you have knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions and culture.
  • You want to be a driving force in the development – and eventually make yourself less necessary by building capacity in the organization.
