The Ministry of Domestic Affairs is seeking a dedicated lawyer who wishes to work on some of the most central legal and societal issues in Greenland.

About Domestic Affairs
Domestic affairs are responsible for, among other things:

Municipal administration and municipal division
-
Elections to the Inatsisartut and municipal bodies
-
Supervision of the municipalities
-
The Election Committee, the Eligibility Committee, and the Supervisory Board
-
Registration and expropriation
-
Operation and development of valg.gl
-
Advising municipalities and public authorities on administrative law issues
-
Preparation of legislation in the domestic area.
You will be working with, among other things:
-
Preparation and revision of Inatsisartut laws and regulations
-
Legal interpretation and legal assessments
-
Legal advice from the Minister, departments, and municipalities
-
Supervision of municipalities' compliance with municipal legislation
-
Handling of cases regarding municipal governance, eligibility, and voting rights
-
Preparation of legal notes, decision proposals, and consultation responses
-
Secretariat support for boards, councils, and committees
-
Contribute to the implementation of elections and the development of Greenland's democratic frameworks.
We are looking for a lawyer who:

Is a Master of Laws or a Bachelor of Laws
-
Has an interest in administrative law, municipal law, and electoral legislation.

Works in a structured and analytical manner

Expresses oneself clearly and precisely both in writing and orally.

Recent graduates and applicants with a bachelor's degree in law are encouraged to apply.

Salary and employment terms are determined in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization. For an applicant with the right verifiable competencies, employment may occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable agreement.
Criminal and child certificate
The department reserves the right to obtain a criminal record and child certificate. Employment can only take effect once a satisfactory child certificate from the National Police and a criminal record from the Police are available.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
