AC Officer/Special Consultant for the Aviation Sector

Close to politics, society, and concrete solutions

As an employee in the Department of Housing, Infrastructure, Outlying Districts, and Emergency Management, you will become part of the administrative engine room where political decisions are translated into concrete initiatives. Working in a department means that we must ensure that the political level has a solid basis for decision-making and that political decisions can be translated into concrete solutions.

You will work closely with the political level of the Naalakkersuisut and contribute to decision-making bases, briefings, legislative work, and analyses in an area of great societal importance.

In the infrastructure sector, there is often a short distance between analysis, political decision, and practical reality. Your work will therefore have a direct impact on both cities, housing, transportation connections, and collaboration with external authorities and actors.

Generalist with a focus on the aviation sector

You will have primary responsibility for tasks in the aviation sector. You may also receive ad hoc tasks related to, among other things, traffic and telecommunications as well as the service contracts for passenger transport.

Aviation and airports are crucial for Greenland's cohesion, mobility, supply, business development, and international relations.

The Aeronautical Office collaborates with relevant national authorities on legislation and framework conditions for aviation in Greenland to ensure solutions that take into account both international and national regulations as well as the geographical, climatic, and traffic conditions that apply here in the country.

The aviation sector includes 13 airports and 46 helicopter landing sites, as well as the general rules and frameworks for aviation in Greenland. The Greenlandic airport structure and traffic services are undergoing significant development with the construction of new runways in Nuuk, Ilulissat, and Qaqortoq.

The Aeronautical Office manages the service contract with Greenland Airports Regional A/S for the operation of public airports and helicopter landing sites in Greenland. In addition, the office maintains close contact with Air Greenland, which flies to all heliports and airports in the country.

The tasks

You will have a broad role with responsibility and variety. Your tasks may include, among other things:

• draft responses to inquiries from citizens and politicians
• write a draft for a decision proposal
• write briefings for the politicians
• develop policies, strategies, and solutions proposals
• prepare analyses, notes, and reports on traffic, economic, and operational issues
• prepare consultation responses to legislative proposals and decision-making papers from other departments
• represent the department at meetings with stakeholders and partners
• identify new challenges and opportunities in the field
• collaboration with federal authorities, authorities, companies, and external stakeholders
• project management and coordination
• give contributions and support to colleagues

There may be business trips to Greenland, Denmark, and abroad, depending on the tasks that need to be completed.

The Aeronautical Office works with aviation, airports, service contracts for passenger transport, telecommunications, and traffic. The office is part of the Infrastructure Department, which also includes the Maritime Office responsible for shipping and ports. We have a total of 11 employees.

The office handles tasks at the intersection of law, politics, economics, planning, and specific operational matters. The tasks are often complex, politically sensitive, and critical to society. This makes the work both professionally challenging and meaningful.

The position

There is a vacant position for employment as an AC officer. A candidate with

the right skills and sufficient experience can be hired as a special consultant or

chief consultant.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in

Greenland's Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization. A candidate

as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor.

Housing

No staff housing can be allocated for the positions. If an applicant already has

Employee housing through employment in the Self-Government retains the right to assigned employee housing.

The employee residence is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon

termination of the employment relationship.

Date of commencement

The position is to be filled as soon as possible or by agreement.

Working hours

40 hours weekly.
