Social Counselor for People with Disabilities in Narsaq

Kommune Kujalleq is looking for a social counselor for people with disabilities in Narsaq. The position requires a skilled, dedicated, and stable individual with relevant social work education, starting February 1, 2026, or by further agreement. The children's and youth services in Kommune Kujalleq have faced challenges, leading to temporary government intervention. A new department for Children and People with Disabilities has been established to ensure citizens' rights and well-being. As a caseworker, you will play a crucial role in providing services to people with disabilities. The department is small, and you will work with children, youth, and adults, including those placed outside their homes due to disabilities, offering diverse daily tasks and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

We expect you to have:

• A Bachelor's degree in social counseling or equivalent education.
• Experience in comprehensive service delivery.
• Strong collaboration skills, able to work across departments and with external partners.
• Experience in administrative and financial tasks.
• The ability to maintain positive communication and mediation with citizens based on their life situations.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring services for people with disabilities comply with current laws.
• Conducting assessments, planning actions, and applying for support.
• Monitoring the delivery of assistance based on citizens' current needs.
• Actively contributing to the development and collaboration within the department.

The social services department offers:

The opportunity to influence and develop services for people with disabilities, working closely with your supervisor and colleagues. The position involves 40 working hours per week, with potential participation in on-call duties.

Child protection clearance:

The position is subject to child protection clearance. Employment cannot commence until the municipality receives the clearance. The clearance will be part of the hiring assessment.

Salary:

Salary and employment terms follow the agreement between the Government of Greenland and the Association of Social Workers and Caseworkers.

Housing:

Housing may be provided with rent and other costs according to current regulations. Relocation expenses may be covered after three years of employment.
