Social Worker

A social worker is sought for Nuussuup Atuarfia to enhance well-being and community among students. The role involves coordinating social work, providing advice and guidance to school staff, and managing case processing related to students. The position requires a qualified social worker with experience and the ability to establish good relationships with children and youth.

Nuussuup Atuarfia is a public school with 375 students spread across grades 1-10. There are 18 regular classes and 11 special classes. The school has 57 teachers, a vice principal, and a principal.

The content of the position

As a social worker, your primary task will be to coordinate the social work around the students at the school. Thus, the work will consist of being proactive in relation to students and parents, conducting conversations with children and parents, providing advice and guidance to the school's staff, as well as handling the school's case processing concerning students.

Is trained as a social worker or equivalent

Has the necessary experience

Being bilingual will be an advantage.

That you are able to establish good relationships with children and young people.

That you have the courage for outreach work.

That you are persistent and willing to seek new opportunities.

That you are committed to a high degree of cooperation with the school's staff and external partners.

Your tasks will include:

·Expand and improve the school-home collaboration

·Be the contact person for students who require a social professional intervention.

·Advise and guide the staff in working with children

·Conduct conversation processes with students and parents

·Create action plans for students or classes that need social support assistance.

·Be involved in implementing the action plans

·Provide social professional support to the staff

·Make efforts at the school regarding substance abuse, well-being, and bullying

·Be part of the school's crisis preparedness

The tasks are carried out in close collaboration with the school's staff and management, as well as our external partners such as the social workers from the Family Administration, the Department of Health and Prevention, and with MISI, as well as in networks with the social workers from other schools.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
