Kangillinnguit Atuarfiat is looking for a School Principal

Kangillinnguit Atuarfiat in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a school principal who is willing to lead the implementation of the Administration for Children and Schools' visions for the school area.

These include creating healthy, curious, and resilient children. Furthermore, the school principal must be visible and have clear ideas about how to work at the school to fulfill this vision.

Since 1995, Kangillinnguit Atuarfiat has become one of the municipality's 4 public schools. Kangillinnguit Atuarfiat is a municipal public school with 523 students and is one of the 5 municipal public schools in Nuuk. The grade levels range from 1st to 10th grade divided into two tracks with a total of 20 regular classes and 4 special classes. The school is divided into 3 levels – the youngest level from 1st to 3rd grade, the middle level from 4th to 7th grade, and the oldest level from 8th to 10th grade. The teaching staff consists of 47 educators, a vice principal, an office assistant, a social worker, a janitor, and a janitor's assistant, as well as cleaning staff.

Kangillinnguit Atuarfiat is known for holding Friendship Classes, Cooperative Parents, and for the personal, social, and academic development of the students. The school's motto is "Together We Strengthen Learning".

We are looking for a school principal who:

∙is passionate about the school and about working with the education of children and young people, and who can lead the further development of the school in Nuuk's district of Nuussuaq, in collaboration with the school board, staff, students, and parents.

∙can set the agenda and create job satisfaction and well-being among the school's staff.

∙is open and visible with clear opinions and would like to be a school principal in an active local community.

∙has interest in and experience with both pedagogical and administrative tasks and personnel management.

∙has an overview, can make decisions, plan and delegate tasks, and is interested in developing the school's international and national relations.

∙places the student at the center of their school leadership and has suitably high ambitions for all students.

∙can see the value in interdisciplinary collaboration in Sermersooq's schools, regarding development and problem-solving, and who will contribute to further developing the collaboration between school and preschool.

∙is a trained teacher or has a similar education, preferably with a master's degree.

∙is preferably bilingual - Greenlandic/Danish. English is also an advantage.

The employee is covered by the agreement on the holiday travel fund.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and Employment Conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Employment:

If you are currently employed as a civil servant, you have the opportunity to continue as a civil servant according to the applicable rules and agreements with us. In the case of collective agreement employment, the probation period is 1 year. In both collective agreement employment and civil servant employment, earned salary seniority is counted after passing the teacher examination. Employment is as a civil servant or according to the "Collective Agreement between Naalakkersuisut and IMAK for teachers in public schools, etc.".

Housing: No staff housing can be provided for the position.
