Do you want to make a difference for placed children and young people and strengthen the collaboration with their families?

Kujalleq Municipality, Administration for Children and Family, is looking for two dedicated caseworkers for our placed team in Qaqortoq, starting on December 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

Are you passionate about ensuring that placed children and young people have the best possible conditions for well-being, development, and a safe upbringing? Do you focus on the child's perspective and on creating a constructive collaboration between the child, the parents, and the placement site? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

Job content

As a caseworker in our placed team, you will play a central role in the authority work concerning children and young people aged 0-18 years who are placed outside the home in foster families or residential institutions.

Your most important task will be to ensure that each child or young person receives the necessary support, care, and follow-up during the placement. You must be attentive to the child's individual needs, well-being, and development and ensure that the child's perspective is heard and included in decisions that affect their life.

We also place great emphasis on strengthening collaboration with the parents during the placement. Even though the child does not live at home, the parents still play an important role in the child's life. Therefore, it is crucial to create a respectful and trusting collaboration where the parents are involved appropriately, and where there is a targeted effort to work on the relationship between the child and the family based on the child's best interests.

You must be able to collaborate closely with foster families, residential institutions, and relevant professionals to ensure a coherent effort around the child. You will also participate in the department's notification duty according to a rotation scheme.

We emphasize that you

·Are a trained social worker or have another relevant education.

·Have experience with authority case processing in the child and youth area, preferably with placement cases.

·Have a strong professional commitment to the well-being, development, and rights of placed children and young people.

·Can create trusting relationships with children and young people and ensure that their voices are heard.

·Have good skills in parent collaboration and can handle complex family situations with respect and professional clarity.

·Can collaborate professionally with foster families, residential institutions, and other partners.

·Have knowledge of the Child Support Act and other relevant legislation.

·Work systematically with social assessments, action plans, documentation, and follow-up.

·Can work independently, structured, and solution-oriented.

·Actively contribute to a good working environment and a well-functioning interdisciplinary collaboration.

Knowledge of Greenlandic conditions is an advantage, and it is preferred that you master both Greenlandic and Danish.

Your primary tasks

·Handle authority case processing for placed children and young people in foster families and residential institutions.

·Systematically follow up on the child's well-being, development, and conditions during the placement.

·Conduct conversations with children and young people and ensure their involvement in their own case.

·Strengthen collaboration with the parents and support their relevant participation in the child's life during the placement.

·Hold parent conversations, network meetings, and follow-up meetings with the placement sites.

·Develop and follow up on action plans and social assessments.

·Assess whether the placement and the initiated efforts continue to meet the child's needs.

·Collaborate with foster families, residential institutions, and relevant professionals about the child's development and well-being.

·Process applications, conduct hearings, and prepare recommendations and decisions.

·Ensure correct documentation and compliance with applicable legislation and case processing deadlines.

·Provide advice and guidance to children, young people, and their parents.

·Work for continuity and stability in the child's life and assist in a good transition when changes occur in the placement process.

We offer
