Backcountry Greenland – Hotel Sisimiut is looking for a dedicated, service-minded, and practical Hotel Operations Manager who thrives on being an active part of the hotel's daily operations while also taking responsibility for team leadership, coordination, and great guest experiences.

About the position

As Hotel Operations Manager, you combine the role of operational team leader with active participation in the hotel's daily operations.

The position is primarily practical and operations-oriented. You will be part of the regular shift schedule with varying working hours and will handle daily tasks in the reception and guest service, often independently during your shifts.

In addition to your daily operational tasks, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the staff in the reception and housekeeping, coordinating activities, and ensuring effective administration and a high level of service.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing workflows, supporting your colleagues, and ensuring that all guests receive a welcoming, professional, and memorable experience.

We are looking for a responsible and proactive team leader who enjoys working independently, making decisions, and taking responsibility for daily operations.

Your tasks

Daily operations and guest service

• Participate in the regular shift schedule with varying working hours, including shifts where you work independently.
• Handle daily reception tasks, including reservations, check-in, check-out, and guest inquiries.
• Provide excellent guest service and ensure great guest experiences throughout their stay.
• Assist with other guest service tasks and practical tasks in the hotel's operations as needed.
• Professionally handle guest requests, feedback, and any challenges.

Booking, sales, and conferences

• Manage reservations, group bookings, and related administration.
• Contribute to sales, upselling, and the development of the hotel's services.
• Coordinate meetings, courses, and conferences, including planning and guest needs.
• Ensure professional communication and good relationships with guests and clients.

Team leadership and coordination

• Lead, guide, and support the staff in the reception and housekeeping.
• Coordinate housekeeping, room preparation, and daily priorities.
• Organize daily tasks and ensure good communication between staff and shifts.
• Train, motivate, and support colleagues through practical and present leadership.

Administration and development of operations

• Be responsible for the administration of the reception, reporting, and daily planning.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain effective workflows and procedures.
• Ensure consistent high service quality and good coordination across the hotel's functions.
• Identify and implement improvements in guest experiences and daily operations.

We are looking for someone who

• Has experience and/or education in hotel, hospitality, or tourism.
• Works in a structured manner, is versatile, and flexible.
• Is customer-oriented and passionate about creating great guest experiences.
• Can work independently, take responsibility, and adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
• Has a positive, practical approach to work and thrives with varying working hours, including evening and weekend shifts.
• Has good communication skills in English.
