Family Counselor for Family Center in Qaanaaq
Do you want to help make a difference for our families who need and require assistance? Then you might be the one we are looking for.
You will join a team with other family therapists, family counselors, social workers, and psychologists throughout the municipality based at the Family Center Qaanaaq, where the Department Head will be your immediate supervisor.
Work and responsibilities will include:
- Performing the tasks agreed upon by family therapists or the leading psychologist in the child area concerning the relevant children's and families' action plans and recommendations from the interdisciplinary collaboration group
- Responsible for ensuring that pedagogical and practical guidance and support to families is provided in a qualified manner, with respect for the families' freedom and independence, as well as in accordance with the municipality's goals and intentions in the area based on the action plan
- Must be able to act on their knowledge of the individual family's situation and needs and to convey information and observations about the family to the team leader or the relevant caseworker in the child area
- Must contribute to the general development and improvement of quality in the family counseling area as well as other service areas related to support measures in the child area
- Is jointly responsible for creating good dialogue and collaboration regarding the vulnerable families the family counselor assists and their relatives, as well as other relevant staff in the child area
- Participates in meetings (including supervision meetings) with other family counselors and family therapists serving the same town / village and is active in giving and receiving feedback related to various general issues in this area, including topics that can improve the physical and mental work environment
- Prepares regular, monthly notes on their work efforts for family therapists and informs the leading psychologist or relevant caseworker in the child area of all their remarks and concerns as well as any discrepancies related to the work
- Ensures to improve their qualifications through the courses and other educational offerings available in the child area

We expect you to have the following qualifications:
- Experience with social work in a municipal organization, social work with children, youth, and families in other contexts
- Engaged with other people and social work, flexible and positive attitude, independent and good collaboration skills, good ability to overview and plan, can take care of themselves and others, good humor and creativity
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the currently relevant negotiating professional organization.
There is no housing associated with the position.

Employment is subject to a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. These will be obtained by the hiring authority with the employee's written consent, after which the hiring authority will request these from the National Police.
