Municipality of Sermersooq seeks a business consultant for Tasiilaq

Do you want to help develop the business community in East Greenland?

Are you interested in collaborating with businesses and local actors on business development in Tasiilaq, the villages around the town, and Ittoqqortoormiit? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for an independent and committed business consultant with an interest in local business development and project work. The position is to be filled as soon as possible or by further agreement.

You will have your workplace in Tasiilaq and be responsible for the Municipality of Sermersooq's business efforts in the town, the villages around Tasiilaq, and Ittoqqortoormiit. You should be close to local businesses, entrepreneurs, and other actors and help translate opportunities into concrete initiatives.

At the same time, you will become part of a professional community where we work across the municipality. You will therefore also collaborate with colleagues and actors in the Paamiut Region and Nuuk Region on the development of tourism and business across the regions.

A department in development:

You will be part of Tourism & Business, where development and new initiatives are continuously taking place. We work closely with both local businesses, organizations, tourism actors, other administrations, and other partners.

You will therefore have the opportunity to influence development, translate ideas and political decisions into concrete initiatives, and create results that can be felt locally.

The position is organizationally anchored in the department of Tourism & Business, which falls under Business, Facility & Procurement in the administration of Internal Service, and reports to the head of the department for Tourism & Business.

Content of the position:

We are looking for a business consultant who among other things will:

·Contribute to the development of the business community in Tasiilaq, the villages around Tasiilaq, and Ittoqqortoormiit based on local strengths, needs, and opportunities

·Handle the secretariat function for the Business Forum East, including coordinating meetings, workshops, and follow-ups, as well as supporting the forum's collaboration, activities, and joint initiatives

·Translate political decisions and the municipality's business policy into concrete efforts in collaboration with local actors and relevant administrations

·Support the dialogue with businesses, entrepreneurs, and business councils, including preparing meetings, gathering input, and following up on agreed initiatives

·Contribute to projects that strengthen the framework for local businesses and entrepreneurs, including identifying needs for collaboration, competencies, and infrastructure

·Coordinate business-related efforts across Tasiilaq, the surrounding villages, and Ittoqqortoormiit and ensure ongoing contact with the actors in the areas

·Collaborate with colleagues in the municipality's other regions and with external partners on development projects and joint efforts

·Prepare proposals, notes, and status reports on the business area and contribute to planning and implementation of local meetings and activities

·Handle other tasks related to business development as agreed with the department head

The tasks are solved in close collaboration with local actors, the municipality's other administrations, colleagues in Tourism & Business, and the department head

Your profile:

We are looking for a business consultant who thrives on independent work, is proactive, and can create momentum through collaboration with others.

We emphasize that you:

·Have an understanding of working in a politically governed organization and can translate decisions into concrete efforts

·Can communicate clearly and at eye level with businesses, citizens, partners, and colleagues

·Are eager to seek out actors and build trusting relationships in both towns and villages

·Can work systematically with data, finances, and follow-up on projects

·Are analytical, structured, and good at creating an overview of various local needs

·Can work independently and prioritize tasks and travel in a daily life with geographical distance

·Have strong collaboration skills and can bring different actors together for common solutions

·Take initiative and follow up so that ideas and agreements are translated into action

·Have an interest in the conditions of the business community in East Greenland and wish to work across the municipality's regions

·If you speak Greenlandic and Danish, it is an advantage, but not a requirement

Professional background:

You do not need to have a higher education to apply for the position. We primarily emphasize that you can create good relationships, understand local needs, and bring ideas to life. Experience with businesses, project work, or local development is an advantage, but can be gained in many different ways.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period

Housing:

There will be the possibility of assigning staff housing for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Government of Greenland and the municipality's properties, etc. in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered temporary housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above. The start date depends on when staff housing is available. A relocation travel and moving expenses will be provided according to applicable rules.
