The nursing home QUPANUK is looking for a department manager with experience as a healthcare assistant. The position involves responsibility for the care department, personnel administration, and budget. The working hours are 40 hours per week, and availability is expected as needed. The nursing home QUPANUK is looking for a department manager

QUPANUK is a workplace with around 70 employees. There is room for 44 residents, who are distributed across 2 departments; the nursing department with 22 places including 2 respite places, and the dementia department with 22 places. QUPANUK also has its own kitchen, cleaning staff, and laundry staff, and you will therefore be part of a workplace with many different professions and functions.

The working hours are 40 hours a week. You should also expect to be available as needed.

Your tasks will include:

  • Receiving and introducing the newly arrived resident in close collaboration with the relatives
  • Link between the nursing home and relatives
  • Responsible for administrative tasks, personnel responsible for the Nursing Department, as well as budget co-responsible
  • Responsible for the personnel administrative tasks from hiring to resignation for the Nursing Department's employees
  • Ensure that care is provided in accordance with the purposes, goals, and rules established for the area, including strengthening the residents' functional level and resources with rehabilitative workflows, as well as assisting in care as needed
  • Contribute to creating trust and security through dialogue and conversation
  • Shift and vacation planning as well as annual planning
  • Take responsibility for the Nursing Home Manager or Deputy Manager in their absence


The candidate

We expect that you are a trained healthcare assistant and hope that you have management experience. It is important that you can be a stable, clear, and visible leader who leads the way while also keeping an eye on the followers. You have an open, involving, and appreciative approach in relation to employees, partners, residents, and their relatives and can accommodate the differences among people. You have experience with shift planning and administrative work, which constitutes about 70% of the position, and a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. You are inspired by being involved in care and prioritize continuing to raise the professional level in the department.

We expect that you are good at communicating – both with colleagues, residents, and relatives. You must be able to conduct various forms of conversations – including the difficult ones. You are solution-oriented and positive and serve as a role model for actively working to create a good environment for everyone in the department.

Criminal record:
This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreements between the Greenlandic Home Rule and the relevant negotiating organizations.

The employment will be with a 3-month probation period.

Start date November 1, 2026, or by agreement.
