The Self-Government's Interpretation Office is seeking an administrative employee to handle translation tasks and participate in the development of a task management system. The position requires good communication skills and the ability to work structured in a team.

Do you want to help further develop a Greenlandic-speaking public administration? And do you want to be part of a purely Greenlandic-speaking team in the Self-Government's Interpretation Office? And do you have the ability and desire to tackle tasks such as managing incoming and completed translation assignments?
Then we are looking for an administrative employee in the Self-Government's Interpretation Office.
We offer a job with exciting tasks and the opportunity to participate in the further development of a task management system in the Interpretation Office, together with the office's 14 permanent employees.

About the Interpretation Office:
The Interpretation Office handles all interpreting and translation tasks, including simultaneous interpreting in the Self-Government's central administration. Translation tasks in Greenlandic, Danish, and English such as legislative proposals, presentations to the Naalakkersuisut, larger reports, materials for Inatsisartut meetings, as well as incoming and outgoing mail from the departments/directorates.

Your tasks will include:

  • Processing and preparation of received and outgoing translation tasks
  • Handling inquiries about translation tasks
  • Registration and follow-up on simultaneous interpreting requests
  • Conversion of received translation tasks to the translator system and conversion back to the original format after the translations               
  • Processing of salaries for external collaborators
  • Payment of invoices, e.g. via IRIS
  • Maintenance of employee master data
  • Various administrative ad hoc tasks

We expect that:

  • You have a relevant professional education, preferably in IT
  • You are independent, flexible, and can work in a structured manner
  • You can maintain an overview even in pressured situations 
  • You are extremely reliable
  • You have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing


Personal competencies:
The position as an office employee in the Interpretation Office is versatile and requires stable attendance, as the function is very central to the daily flow of the Interpretation Office. Additionally, we value personal competencies such as commitment and willingness to learn. Furthermore, you should be able to collaborate in a team of 14 employees who work under high pressure on a daily basis. Experience with translation work or an education as an interpreter may be an advantage, but is not a requirement.

Start date

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is tied to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
