Do you want to create direction in the planning work and ensure that complex planning cases turn into clear and well-thought-out decisions?
Kommune Kujalleq is looking for a planning manager who can combine personnel management, planning expertise, understanding of authorities, and political servicing. You will play a central role in the development of Qaqortoq, Narsaq, and Nanortalik as well as the municipality's settlements and the open land.
The position is located in the Department of Technical and Environmental Affairs and reports to the Head of Administration for Technical and Environmental Affairs. You must create an overview and progress in planning tasks, support employees professionally, and ensure a solid decision-making basis for management and the political committees.
Your main tasks
- Lead, prioritize, and allocate the department's tasks and resources as well as follow up on quality and deadlines.
- Prepare, revise, and maintain the municipal plan strategy, municipal plan, municipal plan amendments, as well as development and comprehensive plans.
- Prepare and quality assure case presentations and decision proposals for relevant political committees and the Municipal Council.
- Ensure that case presentations contain a clear legal basis, relevant planning, technical and economic consequences, risks, and a clear recommendation.
- Ensure correct and uniform handling of planning cases according to applicable rules on planning and land use.
- Plan and conduct hearings, citizen involvement, and processing of hearing responses.
- Coordinate planning tasks with, among others, land management, construction, facilities, infrastructure, environment, cultural heritage, business, and housing development.
- Respond to and coordinate inquiries from citizens, businesses, authorities, and advisors.
- Lead planning projects, follow up on external advisors, and ensure updated maps, GIS, and planning data.
- Contribute to budget planning, prioritization, and management reporting for the planning area.
We expect that you:
- Have a relevant higher education, for example as an urban planner, architect, engineer, geographer, landscape architect, or equivalent.
- Have experience with physical planning, public administration, and relevant planning legislation.
- Can translate complex planning and legislative matters into clear case presentations and applicable recommendations.
- Have an understanding of working in a politically led organization.
- Can lead and develop employees and create clear frameworks for task resolution.
- Work analytically, structured, and solution-oriented and can maintain an overview in a daily routine with many simultaneous cases.
- Communicate clearly in writing, speech, and visual presentations.
- Collaborate naturally across disciplines, organizations, and geography.
- Preferably have experience with GIS, digital planning tools, and planning portals.
- Have an understanding of or interest in Greenlandic societal conditions. Knowledge of the Greenlandic language and local conditions is an advantage.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions follow the applicable collective agreement and are agreed upon with the relevant professional organization. The position is full-time with a workplace in Qaqortoq. Start date is as soon as possible or by agreement.
Travel within the municipality and as needed outside the municipality should be expected.
