The Government of Greenland is seeking a skilled communications officer to strengthen their communication efforts. The position involves developing communication plans, press work, and media monitoring. We are looking for a professionally strong communicator with political understanding and good writing skills.

The Government of Greenland seeks an engaged and skilled communication officer who will help strengthen and develop the Government's communication efforts. We are looking for an employee with strong communication skills, political understanding, and a desire to work in an organization where communication plays a central role in conveying the Government's work and decisions.

The Chairman's Department

The Chairman's Department has a central coordinating and leading role in ensuring the Chairman of the Government has the best possible basis for collaboration in the Government and in the central administration.

The department consists of the Management Secretariat, the Legal Department, HR Development, the Constitutional Department, the Department for Governance, and the Communications Department, where the vacant position is located.

About the position

As a communication officer, you will be part of the Government's communications department, where you contribute to the development and implementation of communication efforts across the central administration. You will work closely with both the Communications Department, the ministries, and the political leadership to ensure clear, credible, and professional communication.

Your tasks will include:

  • Contributing to the development and implementation of communication efforts and communication plans
  • Preparing press releases, news, talking points, and other communication materials
  • Assisting in handling press and media inquiries
  • Conducting media monitoring and preparing analyses of the media landscape
  • Developing and producing content for digital platforms and social media
  • Contributing to the coordination of cross-cutting communication tasks across the central administration
  • Participating in communication efforts related to larger projects, political matters, and events

You will have a varied workday with both strategic and operational tasks and become part of a professionally strong working environment focused on collaboration, quality, and development.

About you

We are looking for a professionally strong communicator who can translate messages into clear and targeted communication.

  • Have a relevant education in communication, journalism, or similar
  • Have experience with communication or press work, preferably from a politically governed organization
  • Have good writing skills, including a flair for political communication
  • Have an understanding of political processes and the interplay between politics, administration, and the public
  • Have good analytical skills and can work in a structured manner
  • Are collaborative and thrive in an organization with many stakeholders
  • Are proactive, flexible, and responsible
  • Contribute positively to a strong professional community

We expect that you have knowledge of and insight into societal conditions. It is an advantage if you are bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
