Chief Accountant

Do you want to help develop the finance function in one of Greenland's leading installation companies?

The VVS & EL Company A/S is looking for an experienced and professionally strong Chief Accountant who wants a central role in the company's financial management and continued development.

You will report to the CFO and become an important sparring partner for both management, project managers, and the finance department. The position combines managerial responsibility with practical participation in daily operations and is therefore ideal for you who thrive on both strategic tasks and take responsibility for getting things done.

Your primary areas of responsibility

Accounting and reporting

• Overall professional responsibility for the company's bookkeeping in close collaboration with the head of the bookkeeping department.
• Ensure correct, up-to-date, and well-documented bookkeeping.
• Responsible for month-end closing and financial reporting to management.
• Preparation and follow-up on budgets, forecasts, liquidity, and key figures.
• Ongoing balance reconciliations and quality assurance of financial data.
• Follow-up on debtors, creditors, payroll, banks, and intercompany accounts.
• Accounting handling of inventory, fixed assets, accruals, and ongoing projects.
• Preparation of material for annual accounts and audits.

Financial management and development

• Further development of financial processes, internal controls, and workflows.
• Contribute to the development of management tools for larger contracts and projects.
• Budget follow-up, status assessments, contribution margins, and post-calculations.
• Sparring with the CFO, Financial Controller, as well as department and project managers.
• Contribute to the digitization and optimization of the finance function's work processes.

Cross-functional collaboration

• Active participation in daily operations as needed.
• Practical support within bookkeeping, HR, and IT-related tasks.
• Close collaboration with the company's other departments and management.

Your profile

We envision that you:

• Have a relevant financial education in accounting, finance, or auditing.
• Have experience from a similar position such as:
  • Chief Accountant
  • Finance Manager
  • Controller
  • Auditor
• Have strong competencies in accounting, reporting, and budgeting.
• Have experience with month-end closings and preparation of annual accounts.
• Are used to working with financial systems and Excel at a high level.
• Have an interest in digitization and process optimization.
• Work structured, independently, and with a focus on quality.
• Are solution-oriented and thrive in a daily routine with many contact surfaces.
• Communicate professionally with both management, employees, auditors, and partners.
• Thrive as a working leader who also actively participates in practical problem-solving.

It is an advantage if you have experience from:

• The construction and civil engineering industry
• The installation industry
• Contracting companies
• Project-oriented companies

However, this is not a requirement.
