We are looking for a department head for Digital Service in Nuuk, who will lead and develop digital platforms for the public. The position requires strong leadership skills and experience in project management. You will be responsible for operations, development, and collaboration with stakeholders.
Lead a socially critical Digital Service Department
Do you want to lead the digital platforms that citizens, employees, and authorities rely on – and develop a well-functioning department with respect for what already works?
Digital Service is a well-managed department with control over processes, responsibilities, and deliveries. Your task will therefore not be to start from scratch, but to create the next development: safeguard the solid operations, strengthen collaboration, and translate new needs into secure, user-friendly, and coherent digital solutions.
A leadership role with visible significance
Digital Service manages and further develops central digital service and communication platforms across the public sector. This includes, among others, sullissivik.gl, naalakkersuisut.gl, the Self-Government's intranet, and the platform for common public websites. The platforms have different target groups and content owners, but one common ambition: to make public information and digital services accessible, coherent, and reliable.
It will be to your advantage if you:
- can maintain and develop a high professional level
- see leadership as the most important professional tool, and not just a title
- are able to spar with project managers, business consultants, and the rest of the management in the Agency for Digitalization
- have good communication skills, both written and verbal
- have in-depth knowledge of societal conditions and the public sector
- can document experience in project management
As department head, you will have personnel, operations, development, and budget responsibilities for an area of great societal importance. You report to the Director General and contribute to the overall management and strategic direction of the Agency for Digitalization.
Your most important task
You must create progress with care. The department functions well, and the employees have established robust workflows and a strong professional practice. You therefore meet the organization with curiosity, listen to experiences, and protect the quality and stability that has been built. At the same time, you set direction, prioritize clearly, and develop the department in line with new user needs, requirements, and technological opportunities.
This requires a leader who can both hold firm and move forward – and who knows that lasting development is created together with employees, content owners, authorities, municipalities, and suppliers.
Your central areas of responsibility
- Ensure stable, secure, and professional operations as well as a prioritized further development of the department's platforms and services.
- Lead, motivate, and develop employees and create clear frameworks for responsibility, professionalism, well-being, and collaboration.
- Safeguard documented processes, governance, and quality assurance – and improve them when there is a clear need and a shared ownership.
- Develop and follow the department's roadmap, goals, budget, and resource prioritization in close connection with the agency's strategy.
- Create a common direction among many stakeholders and content owners across sullissivik.gl, naalakkersuisut.gl, the intranet, and the common public website platform.
- Ensure clear roles, timely involvement, and good communication across the Self-Government, municipalities, and other common public collaboration partners.
A varied everyday life in a professionally exciting environment
We offer an exciting position with varied tasks and the opportunity to become part of a professionally strong and development-oriented environment. You will have both responsibility for daily management and the opportunity to work closely on the department's specific professional deliveries.
As department head, you will be part of – and will also, as needed, serve as a project resource in – new, planned, and ongoing projects in the department, including projects where funding is sought from PDA. This gives you the opportunity to actively contribute with managerial, organizational, and professional sparring from the early considerations to implementation and stable operations.
