Oqaasileriffik in Nuuk is looking for an employee for a position as a full-time officer, consultant, or AC officer with the function of secretary for Oqaasiliortut (Greenland's Language Council). The position is desired to be filled as soon as possible or by further agreement.

The position will be classified as a full-time officer, consultant, or AC officer depending on qualifications and experience.

About the position
As secretary for Oqaasiliortut, you will play a central role in serving Greenland's Language Council and in the professional work with the Greenlandic language.

Your tasks will include:

  • Secretariat support for Oqaasiliortut, including case processing and preparation of meetings, cases, and decision-making basis
  • Preparation of minutes and follow-up on the council's decisions
  • Language processing and terminology work
  • Documentation and analysis work focusing on the Greenlandic language
  • Participation in collaborative projects regarding Greenlandic as well as possibly other Inuit languages and Nordic languages
  • Responding to linguistic inquiries from citizens and authorities as part of Oqaasileriffik's response service

The position involves both independent professional work and close collaboration with colleagues and external partners.

Qualifications
We expect that you:

  • Have a linguistic education
  • Have solid background knowledge and documented experience working with the Greenlandic language
  • Have knowledge of research and analysis methods
  • Have experience with or insight into language processing and terminology work
  • Work independently, structured, and analytically
  • Are proactive and take responsibility for progress in tasks

It is a requirement that you master:

  • Greenlandic at native speaker level or equivalent very high written and oral level
  • Danish
  • English

Oqaasileriffik is a unit under the Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church. The unit operates within the framework of the applicable legislation on the Greenlandic language and handles tasks related to documentation, development, and dissemination of the language.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the applicable agreement/collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization at the time of commencement.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment may occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
