Substance Abuse Counselor for Allorfik Qeqqata in Sisimiut

A practitioner is sought for Allorfik Qeqqata with commencement on November 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The position has a special focus on Maniitsoq and settlements in Qeqqata Municipality. The upcoming employee will function as a key and contact person for the Maniitsoq area and contribute to strengthening collaboration with municipal authorities, Early Intervention, and other relevant partners.

We expect that you have a medium-length higher education, such as a teacher, educator, or social worker.

The treatment in Allorfik is based on motivational interviewing and a cognitive behavioral therapeutic treatment model. If you are not trained in the field, Allorfik will provide your education.

Additionally, it is an advantage if you have a supervision, psychotherapy education, or similar advanced training. It is also an advantage if you have experience with or competencies in trauma-informed treatment.

Allorfik Qeqqata offers citizens in Qeqqata Municipality treatment for alcohol, cannabis, and gambling addiction, both online and in person, and there may therefore be travel to the settlements, preventive tasks, as well as participation in prevention in the city in collaboration with the municipality on projects. Travel activity to Maniitsoq and the settlements is particularly expected as part of treatment, collaboration, and prevention tasks.

Your workplace is Sisimiut, and at the center, there are currently 4 practitioners, and one of the practitioners serves as a group leader.

Allorfik's local centers are organizationally under the Knowledge Center for Addiction in Nuuk, which is responsible for the national effort against substance abuse and gambling problems. You will have significant influence on the organization of your work in collaboration with the Knowledge Center for Addiction, which also offers supervision to you.

As a practitioner, you will among other things:

● Motivate for treatment with Motivational Interviewing

● Treat and guide citizens with problems related to alcohol, cannabis, and gambling

● Provide aftercare and educate relatives

● Conduct mapping interviews and report to the national addiction database

● Collaborate with the municipality regarding citizens' aftercare and issues that hinder treatment

● Educate about the offerings in Allorfik and our methods

● Participate in the center's outreach activities

● Function as a contact person for partners in Maniitsoq

● Contribute to strengthening collaboration with municipal authorities, Early Intervention, and other relevant partners

● Contribute to the development and coordination of treatment and prevention efforts in Maniitsoq and the settlements

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the applicable agreement/collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization at the time of commencement.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment may occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor according to the applicable collective agreement

Housing
An unfurnished staff housing may be offered for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be offered to individuals who already have staff housing or another housing owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is tied to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the housing, ownership conditions, etc. There may be waiting time for the assignment of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation will apply. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
