The Department of Environment, Nature, Energy, and Research is seeking an office manager for a maternity leave cover. The position involves responsibility for the supply of Greenland's hydropower potential. Qualifications include administrative experience and an understanding of political decision-making processes. Start date as soon as possible.

Do you have strong administrative and coordinating skills, political understanding, and a desire to work on one of the country's largest development projects?

Start date: November 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Department of Environment, Nature, Energy, and Research is seeking a maternity cover for an office manager position, which will have the professional responsibility for the tendering of Greenland's largest hydropower potentials at Tasersiaq and Tarsartuup Tasersua, with a total energy potential of over 1 GW.

About the position

The Energy Department has been working for several years to realize Greenland's potential for commercial utilization of our hydropower resources. As part of this work, it has been politically decided to tender and market two large hydropower potentials at Tasersiaq and Tarsartuup Tasersua.

The hydropower potential is being offered to both national and international investors with the aim of achieving a multi-stranded economy. You will be an important driving force in ensuring progress in a project that has significant societal importance.

In the Energy Department, we are five employees. The position of office manager does not have personnel responsibility, but you will have the overall professional responsibility for the tendering and progress of the project.

You will work with:

  • ensuring progress in the tendering process (including holding pre-qualification, investor screening, planning of town hall meetings, etc.)
  • ongoing political servicing in connection with the process as well as contributing to communication to the public about Greenland's potentially largest project.
  • coordination across authorities, professional areas, and relevant stakeholders.
  • preparation of decision proposals and other materials for political processing.
  • dialogue with potential investors, advisors, and other stakeholders.
  • quality assurance of complex technical, economic, legal, and administrative materials.
  • budget responsibility and financial follow-up.

Qualifications

You have a higher education and several years of administrative experience from employment in either the public or private sector. It is an advantage if you have experience with or knowledge of being a civil servant close to the political sphere.

This is a position with many diverse tasks, and you must be able to move between large strategic considerations and the details that need to be in place to successfully complete a complex tender.

It is therefore important that you thrive in delving into legal issues, understanding socio-economic structures and calculations, as well as political servicing and communication to both citizens, advisors, and potential investors.

We expect that you:

  • have experience with and understanding of political decision-making processes.
  • have experience in creating structure and progress in complex tasks.
  • have knowledge of tender processes within energy projects.
  • have political acumen and can engage in trusting and diplomatic collaborative relationships with many different external actors who may have opposing interests.
  • have good communication skills and can communicate professionally in English.
  • have an interest in and professional insight into the energy sector, larger investments, and working with international investors.
  • have numerical understanding.
  • are good at ensuring compliance with deadlines and maintaining calm in a busy everyday life.
  • work independently and take responsibility for completing tasks successfully.

We offer

You will have the opportunity to play a central role in realizing Greenland's potential for commercial utilization of our hydropower resources.

We offer:

  • a significant responsibility and corresponding opportunity to make a positive difference.
  • a professionally challenging maternity cover with great independence.
  • an attractive workplace with an informal tone characterized by respect and trust.
  • a diverse and exciting area of work with a large national and global focus.

Salary and employment conditions
