Social Worker for Atuarfik Hans Lynge
The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled and dedicated Social Worker for Atuarfik Hans Lynge in Nuuk, starting October 1, 2026, or as soon as possible by agreement.
Atuarfik Hans Lynge has around 500 students and there are 45 teachers assigned to carry out the teaching
The position is a full-time position and reports to the school principal.
Job Content:
We are looking for a – preferably experienced – social worker to engage in the work with children and handle a number of tasks including:
·Coordinating the social work at the school in close collaboration with the school principal and teachers
·Participating in networks and collaborating with the Family Administration's social workers and the department for health and prevention and with Misi
·Developing and improving the school/home collaboration in cooperation with the school
·Advising teachers in cases of reporting
·Being a conversation partner for students and parents as well as being a social professional sparring partner for the teachers
The social workers will, in collaboration with the school's other staff and personnel from the Family Administration, develop action plans for example prevention of abuse and bullying and also participate in the work around the school's crisis preparedness. In a crisis situation in a class, the social worker must, in collaboration with the teachers and family, develop an action plan for the class, be a conversation partner, and provide guidance
The social worker's immediate supervisor is the school principal.
Expectations for Applicants:
·We expect that you have a relevant education
·That you are proactive and can work independently
·Experience working as a social worker, preferably in a municipal administration (but this is not a requirement)
·You should be bilingual, Greenlandic and Danish
·We also emphasize that you as a person have good collaboration skills, that you are trustworthy and have an accommodating personality
·Furthermore, we expect that you can collaborate and spar with other social workers in the schools in the Municipality of Sermersooq

·Able to handle many tasks simultaneously without losing overview
·Communicating clearly and distinctly both in writing and verbally
·Working independently, responsibly, and service-oriented
·Exhibiting flexibility regarding tasks and ongoing adjustments in work distribution
·Capable of working focused and structured in a hectic everyday life
·Robust and showing initiative, surplus, and decisiveness
·Actively contributing to continuously developing and improving our task solutions
·Having a flair for numbers
·Good at collaborating broadly
·Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and Employment Conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Housing:
No staff housing can be provided for the position.
