The Government of Greenland is seeking an AC officer for the labor market department. The position involves processing residence and work permits as well as developing workflows. AC officer sought for the labor market department

The Government of Greenland works to ensure a long-term positive development in the labor supply to promote employment in various sectors and increase self-sufficiency in society. It is the Government's task to ensure that the Greenlandic labor market develops positively, both in the long term and short term. 

The labor shortage in the country is a challenge for the labor market, and due to the labor shortage, businesses and the public sector are calling for labor from outside. One of the Government's objectives is to improve the integration of the people who move here.

There is an opportunity for thorough training, and the possibility for you to influence the development of workflows in dialogue with stakeholders. The stakeholders include labor market partners and municipalities. 

We are looking for a caseworker who can handle hearings on applications for residence and work permits' salary and employment conditions, manage the administration of the fast-track agreement for recruiting foreign labor, development tasks within the subject, as well as coordinating the authorities' control and supervision in the area. 

The department has a wide range of tasks from preparing political proposals for the Government and the Parliament, developing the labor market area, analyses, data processing, and ongoing case processing in the department's areas of responsibility and information work about all initiatives.

Your qualifications and competencies

  • have a relevant academic education or similar.
  • have experience working in a politically governed organization
  • can work independently, structured, and goal-oriented

  • have good communicative collaboration skills and in interdisciplinary work
  • are flexible, punctual, and approachable
  • are bilingual, Greenlandic/Danish or Greenlandic/English
  • are prepared for some travel activity
  • thrive in a busy everyday life and can juggle multiple types of tasks

Additionally:

  • If you have experience with the case management system F2 or other case management systems, it will be an advantage.
  • It is also of significant importance that you have knowledge of Greenlandic society and culture
  • You naturally possess a good sense of humor and are a good colleague!

Your primary work tasks will be:

  • Handle hearing responses to applications for residence and work permits
  • Manage case processing and maintenance of the list of pre-approved companies and the fast-track scheme
  • Streamlining of business processes/procedures regarding incoming labor and the fast-track scheme
  • Development of workflows regarding the areas of responsibility
  • Advising municipalities and businesses regarding the recruitment of foreign labor
  • Conducting courses for municipal caseworkers regarding incoming labor
  • To keep track of labor access
  • Coordinate control and supervision that affects incoming labor
  • Case processing tasks at the administrative level

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment can occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
