Project Coordinator for Safety Cafés

Temporary position for 7-8 months · 20 hours per week

Do you want to create safe communities and make a concrete difference for people in Greenland?

Kalaallit Røde Korsiat is looking for an engaged and independent project coordinator who will help establish and develop Safety Cafés – open and safe gathering places where people can drop by, have a cup of coffee, meet others, and have a chat when needed.

The project starts in Nuuk with the ambition to eventually establish Safety Cafés in an additional 2-4 towns along the coast.

About the Safety Cafés

The Safety Cafés should be inclusive communities where people feel welcome, seen, and heard. The cafés are developed in close collaboration with local volunteers.

As a project coordinator, you will play a central role in getting the café in Nuuk off to a good start and developing a concept that can eventually be used in several places in Greenland.

Your tasks

You will have a versatile role with both practical, coordinating, and relationship-building tasks. You will among other things:

• plan and coordinate the establishment of the Safety Café in Nuuk

• develop and test the concept

• recruit, engage, and collaborate with volunteers

• build local networks and collaborations

• plan and carry out activities

• follow up on activities and document experiences and results

• contribute to communication and visibility

• develop the concept with a view to possible establishment in 2-4 other towns

• participate in meetings, events, and activities around Greenland.

The position involves travel activity in Greenland, especially if the project expands to more towns.

• have an interest in social work and preferably experience with social or psychosocial work

• share our understanding of the value of community and volunteering.

It is a great advantage if you speak both Greenlandic and Danish, as you will be working closely with volunteers, citizens, and local partners.

Relevant education or experience in project coordination, social work, volunteering, communication, or similar is an advantage. The most important thing is that you are engaged, independent, and eager to create something that makes a difference.

You will have the opportunity to help create a new offer from scratch. You must be able to think strategically and tackle practical tasks – from planning and development to activities with volunteers and citizens.

Employment: November 1, 2026, or as soon as possible
Duration: 7-8 months. We are still working to find funding for the project, and therefore there is hopefully a possibility for extension.
