The Social Authority is seeking a consultant to ensure quality and develop the foster care sector in Greenland. The position requires a social work background and experience with vulnerable children. You will support municipal foster care consultants and participate in development projects. The application deadline is September 20, 2026.

About the position
We are looking for a skilled and committed employee in the foster family area. As part of the job, you will among other things support the municipalities' foster family consultants with advice and guidance both pedagogically, legally, and socially in collaboration with your colleagues. In addition, part of the job will involve keeping up with the latest knowledge in the field, including developing and ensuring quality in, among other things, course materials for foster families and guidelines for foster family consultants, so it is an advantage if you have experience with development work in the foster family area, but it is not a requirement.

To fit the job, you must be open and flexible towards many different types of tasks, you must be able to work both independently, detail-oriented, and be a sparring partner with others.

Your tasks will include:

  • providing advice and guidance to the municipalities' foster family consultants.
  • providing professional assistance in complex cases related to the foster family area
  • being responsible for coordinating and planning basic courses and further education for foster families
  • participating in and handling operational and development tasks within the foster family area
  • ongoing updating of social professional knowledge, methods, and efforts in collaboration with the team
  • collecting and disseminating knowledge within the foster family area
  • engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration internally in the Social Agency and externally
  • ad-hoc tasks, e.g., participation in working groups related to development projects

We are looking for a consultant who:

  • has a relevant social professional education, e.g., social worker, social pedagogue, or similar.
  • has experience working with vulnerable children and young people, preferably within the foster family area.
  • has experience and interest in teaching and disseminating knowledge as well as experience in planning, coordinating, and developing teaching materials.
  • works independently, systematically, structured, and is solution-oriented
  • is a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • is good at collaborating and coordinating
  • is good at creating networks
  • is resource-focused and has a respectful approach to other people
  • is bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish, but it is not a requirement.

Additionally, it is an advantage if you:

  • have a relevant further education in the field
  • have experience working in a politically governed organization
  • have experience working with development projects and are good at thinking innovatively.
  • are curious, proactive, and approach a collaborative situation positively

The Social Agency is an agency under the Department of Children, Youth, Justice, and Gender Equality. The position is anchored in the Social Agency's Department for Advice for Caseworkers. As a consultant in the foster family area, you will therefore have significant responsibility for supporting legal and social professional development within the foster family area in the municipal administrations throughout the country.

Start date
November 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

Employment interviews are expected to be held immediately thereafter.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The working hours are generally 40 hours per week.

Housing
No staff housing can be provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
