Kommune Kujalleq is looking for a visible and engaged Culture and Leisure Leader in Qaqortoq
Do you have a passion for cultural life, and do you want to help create strong frameworks for leisure, community life, and cultural events in Kommune Kujalleq? We are looking for a visible and proactive Culture and Leisure Leader to start on October 1, 2026 or by further agreement.
The position is located in the Administration for Daycare & Schools, reporting to the head of the Culture and Leisure department. As the Culture and Leisure Leader, you will have the professional and operational responsibility for the development of the municipality's cultural life, leisure facilities, and local initiatives in close dialogue with citizens, associations, and the creative environment.
Your primary areas of responsibility:
- Culture development and policy: Actively participate in the development of the municipality's overall culture and leisure policy as well as plans for leisure activities and adult education in Qaqortoq and surrounding areas.
- Operations and personnel management: Manage the daily operations of the event hall, public library, youth club, and leisure facilities (including music rehearsal rooms and handicraft workshops). You will have personnel responsibility for club leaders, hourly employees, and facility staff.
- Events and special occasions in leisure education: Initiate, plan, and execute larger cultural events and special occasions. As well as organizing and conducting leisure education for children and adults.
- Association and stakeholder contact: Be the primary entry point for the cultural life to the municipality. Provide support and advice to artists, associations, and initiators on project development and funding opportunities and manage and assess applications.
- Budget and finance: Prepare and monitor operational and project budgets within your area and certify and direct in accordance with the municipality's rules.
- Political and administrative support: Prepare professional input for the head of department and consult colleagues on adjustments to funding rules, etc.
Our expectations of you:
- Education & experience: You have a relevant higher education in cultural communication, event management, cultural sociology, or similar – or solid, documented practical experience in management within the culture and leisure sector.
- Network and communication: You have strong skills in networking, facilitation, and the ability to communicate with everyone – from the local hunter to professional artists.
- Work style: You are independent, flexible, have a good sense of order, and thrive on juggling many tasks in a dynamic everyday life.
- IT: You are familiar with IT at the user level (especially the Microsoft Office suite).
- Language: It is a requirement that you are bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish in writing and speaking.
Salary and employment conditions:
- Employment type: Permanent full-time employment (40 hours/week).
- Collective agreement: Salary and employment are based on collective agreement terms according to current agreements between IMAK and Naalakkersuisut.
- Child and criminal record: The position is subject to the requirement for a child and criminal record check. Employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory certificates from the Police/National Police.
- Smoke-free working hours: Kommune Kujalleq has implemented smoke-free working hours in all municipal workplaces.
