We are looking for a midwifery substitute for a short-term position in Sisimiut from October 1 to November 6, 2026. The position involves close collaboration with colleagues and service to the community, including pregnancy scans and parent preparation education.

Are you a midwife? Do you want a short temporary position in beautiful Central Greenland?

We are looking for a midwife substitute who can work in the mid-region-Qeqqa at the Regional Hospital in Sisimiut from October 1, 2026, to November 6, 2026.

  • Depending on your skills, you will also be able to conduct relevant pregnancy scans in collaboration with doctors or midwives

We are looking for you who:

  • Are service-minded and can work independently
  • Are adaptable and interested in learning about new cultures
  • Can collaborate and communicate with many professional groups
  • Enjoy working with prevention and prenatal examinations
  • Could perform contraception consultations
  • Could teach in parent/birth preparation.

About us:

  • We are a small department with 1 midwife and a birth assistant. Due to illness and vacation, you will work alone here except for the first few days.
  • We have no CTG
  • Sisimiut is the 2nd largest town in Greenland and has about 5,400 inhabitants
  • There are around 50 pregnant women each year and all the births are referred to give birth in Nuuk at week 37.
  • We have a good collegial bond at the hospital. We are good at welcoming new staff
  • Engaged and motivated colleagues in a fine mix of different skill levels

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. Residence and work permits can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
