Avannaata Municipality is looking for an Operations Coordinator for Technical Administration in Ilulissat. The position focuses on ensuring efficient operations and supporting the department head in financial monitoring and planning. You will work with waste management, citizen services, and coordination of operational tasks.
Operations Coordinator in Administration for Technical and Environmental Ilulissat
Avannaata Municipality is seeking a dedicated and responsible Operations Coordinator for Technical administration based in Ilulissat. The position focuses on ensuring a well-functioning operation within the technical area as well as supporting the department head in financial follow-up, planning, and coordination of the municipality's operational tasks.
You will be a central part of the technical administration and play an important role in ensuring that the municipality's technical operations function effectively – in all residences in Avannaata Municipality.
Within the department's areas, you will work with:
• Development of waste management in settlements and towns
• Providing good citizen service and ensuring professional handling of inquiries.
• Coordinating and following up on operations and supply within the technical area in accordance with the municipal council's decisions.
• Contributing to the competence development of operational staff, including training in handling hazardous waste and maintenance of machinery.
• Ensuring the completion of minor construction tasks in Ilulissat after approval from the construction manager.
• Preparing annual applications for FFL and municipal maintenance projects.
• Following up on budgets and preparing monthly financial reports.
• Coordinating bulk purchases, obtaining quotes, and participating in the planning of larger purchases.
• Being the supervisor for municipal operational buildings and village incineration plants with a focus on preventive maintenance.
• Recording and planning the use and maintenance of the municipality's motor vehicles.
• Coordinating paving tasks
You will have a lot of contact with waste collectors and other operational staff, who often need input on solution options within operations.
Competence
• Experience from public organization or company within operations, construction, or facilities.
• Knowledge of Greenlandic conditions and relevant Greenlandic legislation.
• Requirements of Greenlandic
• in writing and speech and proficiency in Danish in writing and speech.
• Educational background as a technician, constructor, engineer, or equivalent – alternatively relevant vocational education with practical experience.
• Good IT skills, including the Office suite, Winformatik, and ERP systems.
• Willingness to travel and stay in settlements and towns outside of Ilulissat.
• Has good communication skills and can collaborate across disciplines.
• Demonstrates respect and understanding for cultural and linguistic conditions in a bilingual society.
• Works in a structured manner, is independent, and has a focus on quality and accountability.
• Interest in working in a political organization.
• Minimum Driver's License B

Salary and employment conditions:Salary and employment will be in accordance with the applicable relevant collective agreement.
No housing is provided for the position unless one already has designated housing in the current position in the Municipality.
The position is desired to be filled by September 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

The position is physically located in Ilulissat, which, with its approximately 5,000 inhabitants, is North Greenland's administrative, cultural, business, and educational center.
The town is rapidly developing, and therefore there are great demands for the municipal operation to always match both internal and external expectations for a public service organization. The town's scenic location also offers unique opportunities for hunting, fishing, and sailing.
