About the position
Personnel & Law is an office in the Ministry of Finance and Personnel (ASA), where we advise and guide leaders in the central administration, subordinate units, and the Greenlandic healthcare system on personnel-related issues. In addition, we help maintain, interpret, and renew existing agreements on behalf of the Self-Government and the Greenlandic municipalities.

Your main tasks as a personnel lawyer

• Preparation of party hearings and decisions regarding written warnings, dismissals, and expulsions
• General advice and guidance to leaders on employment law matters
• Advice and interpretation of agreements, civil servant legislation, as well as other laws, regulations, and circulars within the employment law area
• Negotiations on the renewal of agreements and contracts on behalf of the public Greenland
• Conducting mediation meetings, among other things in connection with disciplinary cases, termination agreements, and disputes
• Handling arbitration and court cases in collaboration with the house lawyer
• Preparation of employment law letters as well as guidelines and drafting of policies in the area
• Teaching employees and leaders in the Greenland Self-Government in basic employment law as well as ad hoc presentations on employment law and agreements

Adjustments to tasks can be agreed upon as needed, interest, competence, and development wishes in collaboration with the other personnel lawyers in the team. Likewise, for the right candidate, there will be the opportunity to participate in ASA’s digitization tasks.

You have/are:

• Master of Law/Master of Business Law/BA in Law with an interest in labor law
• Good at collaborating, sparring, and sharing your knowledge with colleagues
• Proactive, willing to take on a challenge and see it through
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Diplomatic, service-minded, and friendly by nature

It is an advantage if you have good numerical understanding and understanding of legal/economic risks. It is also highly valued if you have knowledge of Greenlandic society and language as well as knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions.

About us
Personnel & Law is an office that, upon commencement, consists of 8 personnel consultants and 3 personnel lawyers. Each personnel group has an office manager. Personnel & Law is an office that is organizationally placed in the Ministry of Finance and Personnel, which falls under the Department of Finance and is part of the Naalakkersuisut.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Greenland Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Greenland Self-Government. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be waiting time for the assignment of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
