Avannaata Municipality is seeking a department head for the Family House in Qaanaaq with experience in social work, social pedagogy, or social assistance. The position involves responsibility for family therapy, project management, and budget responsibility. The start date is September 1, 2026.
Department Leader for the Family House in Qaanaaq
For the social department of Avannaata Municipality in Qaanaaq, we are looking for a department leader for the Family House, preferably with a background as a social worker, social educator, or social assistant, and ideally someone trained with a specialization in case management regarding children and families, starting on September 1, 2026.
The position is permanently attached to the Family House in Qaanaaq, and your immediate supervisor will be the head of the social department.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• In accordance with the organizational plan and job description, have daily responsibility for family treatment and guidance throughout the district.
• Coordinator for child case management.
• Responsible for the development of local working methods, functions, including the implementation of the same, so that the municipality's overall objectives and values are achieved in the district.
• Responsible leader of all projects that are established, completed, and implemented in the Family House.
• Responsible for ensuring that the head of the local social department and the head of the Family Center in Ilulissat are informed and updated on developments and trends in the area in the district.
Desired Qualifications:
• Dedicated to the work.
• Project responsible for family guidance in the district.
• Has budget responsibility for the daily operation of the Family House - in collaboration with the department leader in the Family Center in Ilulissat and the department leader in the local social department.
• Is responsible for a targeted effort to provide a uniform offer to the district's citizens.
• Must ensure a fixed framework for meeting structure in the Family House.
• Is responsible for Employee Development Conversations (MUS) with employees under the Family House.
• Control and certification of the Family House's monthly schedules and shared responsibility for statistical reports in the child area at the local level.
• Develop realistic conflict resolution models in practical collaboration with the family.
Salary and Employment Conditions:Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing is provided for the position.
The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain public criminal and child certificates. The applicant must give consent for this, after which documentation will be obtained from the National Police.
