Child Family Counselor for Kuserneq

Do you want to help strengthen the development of young children and create safe environments for vulnerable families?

Kuserneq is looking for an engaged child family counselor for our residential and treatment offer for families with infants and toddlers.

We work holistically with the family focusing on the child's well-being and development. We support parents in developing their parenting skills, creating structure in everyday life, and understanding their child's needs and development.


About the position:

As a child family counselor, you work with the child's well-being and development as well as the interaction between child and parent.

Your tasks include:

  • supporting the child's development and well-being
  • guiding parents in understanding and responding to the child's signals
  • working with interaction and mentalization
  • planning and participating in activities (e.g. play, sensory rooms, and children's groups)
  • contributing with observations and professional assessments

You will be part of a close collaboration with the team and be part of the overall treatment effort.


About Kuserneq:

At Kuserneq, we work holistically with both the child and the parents. Our efforts are divided into:

  • Child Family Counselors, who focus on the child's well-being, development, and the interaction between child and parent.
  • Adult Family Counselors, who work with the parents' personal development, structure, and daily life.

Additionally, the team consists of a leader, treatment advisor, and psychotherapist, who together ensure a comprehensive treatment effort.


We are looking for you who:

  • Has a relevant professional background (e.g. educator)
  • Has experience with children, preferably infants and toddlers
  • Has an interest in family therapy and interaction
  • Can work both relationally and structurally
  • Is calm, clear, and patient in meeting families
  • Greenlandic at native language level

It is an advantage if you:

  • have knowledge of early development, attachment, or mentalization
  • have experience with or interest in sensory motor skills and early stimulation
  • can work with structure and guidance in families' everyday life

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the national police and the criminal certificate from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the police.


Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.


Housing:
No staff housing can be provided for the position.
