The regional hospital in Sisimiut is seeking a porter-rescuer for a permanent position starting October 1, 2026. The tasks include servicing patients, transfers, and on-call duties. The position offers a varied and challenging job with a focus on professionalism and collaboration.

Sisimiut – Porter Rescuer in a permanent position sought

At the regional hospital in Sisimiut, we have a porter rescuer position available for occupancy from October 1, 2026, or by agreement.

As a porter rescuer, you will have an exciting everyday life that is never the same.

Porter rescuer tasks include, for example, servicing patients who need to see a doctor, physiotherapist, and other relevant departments, assisting the ward with, for example, patient transfers, fixed guard function, janitorial tasks in the house such as waste management, hazardous waste, handling of corpses and autopsies, ambulance driving, assisting with evacuations, helping with sick and acute patients in the emergency room, and many other things.

The porters also have on-call duties from home every day of the week.

Sisimiut Regional Hospital functions as a combination of medical consultation and emergency room with the possibility of hospitalization.

We are also a training institution and should expect to have students and interns during weekdays.

We are looking for you who:

  • Is a trained porter rescuer
  • Is adaptable and enjoys working with complex tasks.
  • Has several years of experience as a porter rescuer and can work independently.
  • Is stable in attendance
  • Is positively inclined and has good collaboration skills.
  • Masters both Greenlandic and Danish but is not a requirement.
  • Has a sense of humor and a twinkle in the eye.

Regional Hospital Sisimiut has about 80 employees and 21 beds and functions as a combination of medical practice and emergency room with the possibility of admissions. We also have a well-functioning primary sector department.

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Citizenship

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. Residence and work permits can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
