The residential institution Puilasoq in Qasigiannguit is looking for a department leader as of September 1, 2026.

Puilasoq;

The residential institution ceased to have children in 2024, and the municipal council in Kommune Qeqertalik has a strong desire to reopen the residential institution as of January 1, 2026.

The children's home Puilasoq is a municipal residential institution in Qasigiannguit that aims to create a calm environment around the child/youth and establish safe and homely conditions for the residents to develop positively both physically and mentally in their efforts to achieve a rich, responsible, and participatory life.

The residential institution is designed for 8 residents.

Some of the responsibilities;

·To ensure that Kommune Qeqertalik's fundamental values are upheld in daily life

·Ensure a structured, caring, and development-supporting everyday life for the residents.

·Motivate and develop the department's staff.

·Plan and coordinate the daily operations, including duty schedules, meetings, and tasks.

·Prepare and follow up on action plans, documentation, and professional assessments.

·Collaborate closely with authorities, parents/relatives, and external partners.

About you;

·That you have a pedagogical education or similar

·That you have knowledge about working with neglected children and their needs to make a daily life function that is also developmental

·That you have a positive view of humanity and the will to ensure a daily life with positive development

·Clear and present leadership style.

·Ability to create calm, direction, and stability in a complex everyday life.

·Robustness and ability to make decisions.

·Flexibility and ability to handle unpredictable situations.

Understanding Greenlandic culture in daily life is a prerequisite, as much of the work includes outdoor life with hunting and worship of, for example, hunting and similar.

The application deadline is May 27, 2026, and the job interviews will be held immediately after the application deadline expires.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between Naalakkersuisut and the negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

Housing:

There will be the possibility of assigning staff housing for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary housing solution, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the above. Criminal and child certificate:This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the national police, as well as the criminal certificate from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the police.
