Do you want to make a difference in the lives of some young people – and help shape a residential institution in change? Then you might be the one we are looking for as the department head at Pilutaq, a social pedagogical residential institution for psychologically vulnerable girls aged 11-17.

Start date: September 1 or by agreement.

About Pilutaq
Pilutaq is located in Sisimiut, Greenland's second-largest city, and falls under the Department of Social Affairs, Family and Prevention. We receive children and young people who have experienced neglect from all over Greenland, and our pedagogy is based on safety, structure, and relationship work.
We work with young people who often have:
• Experienced neglect
• Attachment difficulties
• Outwardly reactive behavior and low self-esteem
• Social and emotional challenges
• A need for safety, stability, and authentic adults around them

An institution in motion
We have a new management – and we are in the process of rebuilding and developing Pilutaq with a new focus on professionalism, collaboration, and stability. This means that you will not just step into a position – you will become an active part of a journey of change.
We are therefore looking for a stable and committed person who:
• Has their heart in the right place
• Loves to create relationships and contribute with energy and ideas
• Wants to help shape a residential institution in development
• Is passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives

Your tasks as department head
You will be an important part of the management team and will among other things:
• Handle the daily management in collaboration with the principal
• Create duty schedules and follow up on finances and structure
• Plan staff meetings, children's meetings, and supervision
• Ensure professional quality and direction in the daily work
• Be a link between staff, residents, parents, and external partners
• Prepare status reports and development plans for the young people
• Introduce and support new employees
• Take on backup duties as part of the management responsibility
• Participate in and plan cabin trips and other activities with the residents

We envision that you:
• Are a trained educator (or similar) – preferably with leadership training or experience
• Have experience with placed children and young people
• Are professionally strong, clear, and dare to lead
• Speak and write Greenlandic
• Are eager to learn and develop with us
• Have a driver's license (not a requirement, but an advantage)

We offer:
• A meaningful job where you can truly make a difference
• A workplace in development – where you have the opportunity to influence both culture and pedagogical practice
• Skilled and committed colleagues who care for each other and the children
• A professional community focused on learning and well-being
• 40-hour workweek, primarily day shifts
Important
The position is subject to legislation regarding child and criminal records. Employment can only occur once approval is obtained.

Salary and employment conditions

Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned for the position according to the applicable rules at any time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland.
