The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled occupational therapist for a permanent position in the Therapy Team with a focus on the children's area. The position involves working with children and young people with physical and mental challenges to increase their independence and quality of life. Start date: 01.10.2026.

The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled and dedicated occupational therapist for a permanent position in the Therapy Team under the Department of Welfare and Labor Market, starting 01.10.2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Therapy Team is staffed with 9 therapists, including 5 physiotherapists and 4 occupational therapists. Additionally, there is a leading therapist and a half municipal physiotherapist in Paamiut.
The Therapy Team is divided into four main areas and one specialty area: Child area, Adult area, Rehabilitation area, and Disability & Social Psychiatry area, as well as a specialist therapist responsible for welfare technology tasks.
The Therapy Team contributes to ensuring that citizens of all ages with physical, cognitive, and/or psychiatric challenges achieve the greatest possible independence in their daily lives. We do this, among other things, through training in daily living skills through meaningful activities. Maintenance training either individually or in groups. Assessment, approval, and distribution of large and small aids that are intended to increase citizens' independence, accessibility, and participation in their own lives.
The position is a full-time position of 40 hours with a shared office in Nuuk, from where your daily work will be based. There will be travel activity to other towns and settlements in the municipality.

Occupational therapist's tasks:
·Contribute to ensuring that children and young people under 18, with a physical and/or mental disability utilize their resources and live as active a life as possible
·Guidance and teaching to the child, parents, and caregivers of the child and staff at day and residential institutions regarding the child's development. Including ADL, sensory profile, training, transfer guidance, and aids
·Engage in close collaboration with the occupational therapist in the child area, parents, and support persons
·Assessment and distribution of aids as well as advice, instruction, and training in the use of these
·The tasks are based on applicable quality standards in the area, defined according to Greenlandic legislation
·Participate in the Therapy Team's joint tasks regarding aids and training for the municipality's other citizens
·Professional development in the area
·Documentation
We need a person who:
·Is a trained occupational therapist
·Preferably has experience in the disability and child area
·Is creative, action-oriented, and professionally well-founded
·Is independent and can prioritize tasks
·Can maintain an overview in a busy everyday life
·Is flexible and adaptable
·Has experience with interdisciplinary collaboration
·Bilingual Danish/Greenlandic is an advantage, but not a requirement

Criminal and Child Certificate:
This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Greenlandic Self-Government, according to the agreement/contract applicable at the time of commencement between the Greenlandic Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
