Queen Margrethe's Health Center in Paamiut is seeking doctors for coverage in 2026 and 2027. The position offers a broad general medical function with independence and collaboration with specialists. Then you now have the opportunity to work in Paamiut – a beautiful Greenlandic coastal town, where your work makes a visible difference every single day.

In the Sermersooq Region, we are planning staffing for the rest of 2026 and 2027 and are therefore looking for doctors for Queen Margrethe's Health Center in Paamiut.

We are looking for doctors who can work a minimum of eight weeks at a time – preferably longer, but still write if you wish for other periods.

About the position

As a doctor in Paamiut, you will have a broad general medical function with great independence and close collaboration with specialists at Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk.

Your tasks include, among other things:

  • General medical consultations.
  • Assessment and treatment of acute patients.
  • Admission, observation, and rounds on patients needing medical treatment or stabilization.
  • Stabilization of patients before transfer to Queen Ingrid's Hospital if necessary.

Deliveries, patients needing advanced treatment, and patients requiring urgent surgical interventions are transferred to Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk. Therefore, you must be prepared to stabilize the patients before transport.

It is an advantage if you have experience with or wish to perform gynecological examinations, medical abortions, insertion and removal of IUDs, insertion and removal of Implanon, suturing including assessment of pregnancy being intrauterine by ultrasound.

Professional collaboration

You work independently, but never alone.

Your daily life takes place in close collaboration with nurses, health assistants, interpreters, and other professional groups at the health center. In addition, you have ongoing support from specialists in Nuuk and Denmark via phone, telemedicine, and specialist visits.

The health center has laboratory facilities, X-ray, and ultrasound equipment. There are 10 beds available for observation, medical treatment, and stabilization before potential transfer.

  • Has Danish authorization and the right to work independently.
  • Is not necessarily a specialist but preferably has a couple of years of clinical experience.
  • Preferably has experience in general medicine or internal medicine.

  • Collaborates naturally with other professional groups.
  • Is curious, flexible, and eager for new experiences.
  • Wants to be the permanent doctor in a smaller local community and make a noticeable difference.

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic healthcare system at any time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Citizenship

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. Residence and work permits can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
