Health Visitors Wanted for Our Northernmost Region Avannaa

We are lucky to have four health visitors in Region Avannaa, and you will have a permanent base at the Regional Hospital in Ilulissat. We are looking for three health visitors to cover the rest of the year, 2026, starting from mid-August or by agreement.

We offer a fantastic opportunity for a workday with great influence on the organization of work and tasks - together with your three colleagues. There will also be collaboration with the Health Centers in Uummannaq, Upernavik, and Qaanaaq, as well as the 21 villages in the Region.

We offer

A versatile job with many different activities ranging from parent groups, home visits, consultations at the hospital clinic, health conversations with school children, teaching, and visits to daycare institutions. Likewise, health visitors conduct child examinations and vaccinations according to the Greenlandic program. We have two schools in the town and 10 other childcare institutions in Ilulissat.

We focus on early intervention and vulnerable families, where interdisciplinary collaboration has been established with the respective agencies. The work as a health visitor here in the Region requires an overview, decisiveness, independence, and places high demands on your professionalism and flexibility, as the tasks often involve complex issues.

• Are a trained health visitor and have diverse experience in the field
• Are adaptable and can collaborate interdisciplinary with many colleagues over a large geographical area, as well as in the Greenlandic culture
• Are used to working with families with infants, toddlers, and school children
• Can contribute creatively to health-promoting initiatives

Ilulissat

Ilulissat is the largest town in Region Avannaa with 5,000 inhabitants, covering an area of approximately 550,000 km2 and has about 12,000 inhabitants distributed across four towns and 21 villages. There are ample opportunities for leisure activities and unique nature experiences.

In the summer, hiking, whale watching, hunting, fishing, and boat trips are ideal activities. Winter offers northern lights and plenty of skiing, and you can go dog sledding. Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any given time.

Salary and Employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. A residence and work permit can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
