The Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church is seeking an economics and finance employee for the processing of course funds and the development of budget and financial management. The position requires collaboration skills and an understanding of economics, with a focus on the education sector in Greenland.

The Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church is seeking a new colleague for the finance department – a new colleague who can ensure good and structured processing of course funds for the business community, while also further developing and continuously strengthening budget and financial management across the entire education, culture, sports, and church sector.

The development of the education sector is a high priority, so that the best educational opportunities can be created for all and qualified labor can be ensured for the business community. Funds for culture are considered essential to ensure ongoing development of society's assets. Grants for sports are sought to be allocated to athletes, as sports are seen as a way to combat lifestyle diseases. Additionally, the church is an integral part of the structure of society.

In the finance department, we have a collaborative culture that allows everyone to contribute innovative ideas to the organization and the solutions to tasks. Your personal qualifications:
We are looking for a colleague who is professionally engaged and has the ability and desire to participate in collaborative teams that prioritize development. We seek you who take pride in delivering solid professional craftsmanship and who approach your tasks in a structured manner. Tasks that range broadly from administration and operations to development and political servicing.

We would like to see that:

  • You have a relevant academic or vocational education, preferably in business economics or social sciences.
  • You have experience from a similar position or from a position within the financial sector.
  • You have an understanding of bookkeeping, finance, and statistical work.
  • You have good knowledge of Greenlandic society and the public system in Greenland.
  • You have good language skills, preferably Greenlandic and English.
  • You are able to maintain an overview in a complex process under time pressure.

Specific tasks:

  • Processing of course funds for the business community.
  • Coordination and dialogue with educational institutions regarding course funds.
  • Daily bookkeeping in IRIS
  • Controlling and accounting analysis.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of work processes in the finance department.
  • Provide consultancy assistance to a number of institutions based on the department's internal instructional authority.
  • Individually or together with others in the team conduct institutional visits to assist and advise institutional management in acute situations.
  • Academic processing of political decision proposals.
  • Academic processing of § 37 questions from the Inatsisartut.
  • Preparation of departmental instructions and guidelines for subordinate operational units.
  • Ad-Hoc finance, statistics, and accounting tasks.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
