By agreement Full-time On-site 30 Jul 2026 Deadline: 16 Aug 2026

We are looking for a project manager for the Construction Department, who will develop and coordinate the Self-Government's fundraising efforts. The position involves responsibility for attracting grant support for construction and infrastructure projects, as well as building relationships between the Self-Government and foundations.

Do you want to help secure external funding for important community projects? Do you thrive on responsibility, communication, and strategic development? Then you might be our new project manager in the Construction Department, where you will play a key role in developing and coordinating the Self-Government's fundraising efforts.

About the position

The Construction Department is looking for an engaged and independent project manager who will lead the work of attracting grant support for the Self-Government's construction and development projects. The position is a central part of a new strategic initiative aimed at securing co-financing and realizing visionary projects across the country.

As a project manager, you will be responsible for identifying relevant funds and pools, developing grant applications, and coordinating collaboration with both internal and external partners. You will become a key person in building a strong and sustainable relationship between the Self-Government and funds – and in building competencies in the area.

Your primary tasks

  • Develop fundraising strategies at the project level and identify relevant financing opportunities
  • Prepare project descriptions and grant applications
  • Coordinate projects with funding potential across departments
  • Engage in ongoing dialogue with funds and communicate the societal value of the projects
  • Support project development with a focus on the priorities of the funds
  • Contribute to capacity building and internal anchoring of grant work
  • Handle reporting, communication, and follow-up with the funds

About you

We envision that you have a relevant higher education – for example, in social sciences, humanities, communication, or project management – and that you:

  • Are analytical and structured in your work style
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Are good at conveying complex projects in a way that resonates with the values of the funds
  • Thrive with independence and responsibility in a politically governed organization
  • Have an interest in or experience with fundraising, strategic communication, or project management

Experience with grant applications, construction projects, or collaboration with public and political actors is an advantage – but certainly not a requirement.

We offer

  • An exciting and meaningful position with significant societal importance
  • Opportunity to shape and develop a new area of focus within the Self-Government
  • An open and informal working environment with engaged colleagues
  • Close contact with the political decision-making process
  • Good opportunities for professional development and academic sparring
  • Flexibility and respect for the balance between work life and family life

Salary and employment conditions

Salary - and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The position is desired to be filled from August 1, 2026, or by agreement.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment with the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is tied to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Questions and application

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact Department Head Embla Kristjánsdóttir at emki@nanoq.gl.

Send your application, CV, and any attachments as soon as possible. We will conduct interviews on an ongoing basis.

About the Construction Department

The Construction Department is one of four departments in the Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure, Outer Districts, and Emergency Management and has a broad and community-supporting portfolio of tasks. We work with the development, planning, financing, and implementation of initiatives that support the Naalakkersuisut's political objectives and create value for citizens and society.

The department handles the central building authority and the central client role for the Self-Government's new construction. In addition, we are responsible for the Housing and Property area, the area for Outer Districts, the Self-Government's insurances, as well as the development and coordination of external fund financing.

Our tasks range from legislation, strategic development, and reform work to authority tasks, administration, financing schemes, and implementation of larger development and construction projects.

We also have responsibility for the ministry's financial tasks as well as the administration of construction grants across the Self-Government's areas of responsibility.

Our work is characterized by high professionalism, cross-cutting collaboration, and close political contact. We translate political ambitions into concrete solutions through development, legislation, investments, and projects that contribute to a sustainable and well-functioning society.
