The Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church is seeking an AC Officer or Economic Consultant for the finance department. The position involves processing course funds and developing budget and financial management. The application deadline is August 18, with a start date of September 1, 2026.

The Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church is looking for a new colleague for the finance department – a new colleague who can ensure good and structured processing of course funds for the business sector, while also further developing and continuously strengthening budget and financial management across the education, culture, sports, and church sectors.

The development of the education sector is a high priority, so that the best educational opportunities can be created for everyone and qualified labor can be ensured for the business sector. Funds for culture are considered essential to ensure ongoing development of the community's assets. Grants for sports are sought to be allocated to athletes, as sports are seen as a way to combat lifestyle diseases. Additionally, the church is an integral part of the community's structure.

In the finance department, we have a collaborative culture that allows everyone to contribute innovative ideas to the organization and solutions to tasks. If you are structured, collaborative, and have a basic understanding of finance, you might be our new colleague in the finance department.

Your personal qualifications:
We are looking for a colleague who is professionally engaged and has the ability and desire to participate in collaborative teams that prioritize development. We seek someone who takes pride in delivering solid professional craftsmanship and approaches tasks in a structured manner. Tasks that range broadly from administration and operations to development and political support.

We would like to see that:

  • You have a relevant academic or vocational education, preferably in business economics or social sciences.

  • You have experience from a similar position or from a position within the financial sector.

  • You have an understanding of bookkeeping, finance, and statistical work.

  • You have good knowledge of Greenlandic society and the public system in Greenland.

  • You have good language skills, preferably Greenlandic and English.

  • You are able to maintain an overview in a complex process under time pressure.

Specific tasks:

  • Processing of course funds for the business sector.

  • Coordination and dialogue with educational institutions regarding course funds.

  • Daily bookkeeping in IRIS

  • Controlling and accounting analysis.

  • Contributing to the development and optimization of work processes in the finance department.

  • Providing consultancy assistance to a number of institutions based on the department's internal instructions.

  • Individually or together with others in the team, conduct institutional visits to assist and advise institutional management in acute situations.

  • Academic processing of political decision proposals.

  • Academic processing of § 37 questions from Inatsisartut.

  • Preparation of departmental instructions and guidelines for subordinate operational units.

  • Ad-Hoc finance, statistics, and accounting tasks.

The position offers the opportunity for influence, responsibility, and diverse tasks, as well as good collegiality and support.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the applicable agreement/collective agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
